The Boat Has Been Recovered
I was a member of the dive team from Dive Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro that recovered the boat from 43 feet of water in Lake Wentworth this morning. A marker had been placed at the reported wreck site but our first dive did not produce results. DIVER1111 was called into action with his Humminbird Side Scan Sonar unit and the boat was found in short order. The actual location was estimated to be about 125 yards west of the original marker. The boat was floated and towed to shore and placed on the owner's trailer.
The cause of the sinking was determined to be a roughly 6 inch square hole that had been punched into the bottom of the hull just under the driver's seat by a hard slap of the boat on a wave. She will run again after some repairs.
