Honoring Director Barrett
A celebration of the life of Director David Barrett was the backdrop for the announcement of several honors in his memory on Monday. Director Barrett died unexpectedly earlier this month. His life and memory were celebrated Monday afternoon, October 24th, on board the M/S Mount Washington.
The celebration began by a Marine Patrol procession from Glendale to Weirs Beach. There his remains were brought on board the M/S Mount Washington by a Marine Patrol Honor Guard where members from every branch of law enforcement lined the rails. Lt. Dunleavy of the Marine Patrol presided over the celebration where many honoring stories were told of the life and legacies of Director David Barrett as well as numerous presentations were made. The New Hampshire State Police presented a special license plate honoring Director Barrett to his widow, Wendy. The license plate is Marine Patrol #1. Commissioner of Safety John Barthelmes announced The New Hampshire Marine Patrol will name its new patrol boat that is scheduled for delivery next summer, the David T. Barrett.

Thanks for posting. That's very sad. Brings tears to my eyes. It was very impressive. His wife should be very proud.

Thank you Scott. Unfortunately I did not make it back in time to make the celebration of life.
The Director was a good man. May he rest in peace (and hopefully get some good riding in). |

A fitting final tribute to a man (and his loving family) that devoted his life to service and Country.

I could not make it but other family was there to honor him. I am a bit surprised that the governor was not in attendance. It was a who's who of state officials on board.
