Default Gas prices

I gassed up at Lakeport last night, $2.029 I was told they dropped price .20 yesterday morning. Drove by Channel $2.449. I did not notice Irwin prices but they are usually at least .10 higher than at Lakeport.
Also beware boaters, I heard a rumor that Channel was dropping to a lower grade gas in an attempt to stay competitive with prices.

Question Lower grade gas?

"Lower grade gas", what exactly does that mean? Isn’t gas just gas? I thought the important number was the octane level. Just match the octane to the engine manufacturers recommendation and you are all set. I gas up wherever the least expensive gas is and have never noticed a performance difference in my cars or boats. I always thought marketing is what made one company different from the other. That is why Mobile/Exxon can get 15 cents more a gallon then Gulf. (When was the last time anyone saw an advertisement for Gulf gas)?

Sunoco used to have a lower grade, but the grade sold on the lake is 89 octane not regular (87 octane).

Default Gas Prices

Just checked Channel this evening (Friday) and they are selling Shell 89 Octane for 2.29 a gallon. Think maybe the price of gas is coming down a bit?????

Default Just asking!

Out of curiosity, you really didn't check the gas price at 1:30 in the morning did you?

The Channel pumps are now Shell rather than Texaco. Will the light still shine?

Funny you should pick up on that. No, I didn't check them at 1:30 AM, that's when I decided to post - but I did check them at about 10:30 PM (I keep my boat near there, so I was curious as I was walking by since I would need to gas up in the morning).
