Default Summer's Last Fling

On this hazy summer day, there are many folks enjoying our wonderful lake. All kinds of watercraft have cruised past our location on East Bear Island. It's great seeing so many having so much fun! 🐻

The west side of Bear Island was typical mayhem. 4-5 across past the Cattle Landing dock and one bonehead with a full party boat passed us within 50 feet. He didn't have a clue. Hopefully they're all be home next weekend.

It has been a great summer. So sorry to see it ending.

We took a nice cruise today from Alton to Wolfeboro up the lake south of Jolly Is. then around Bear And then north of Timber heading back to West Alton. It amazes me how different it is by the amount of traffic and boneheads from the east side to the west side of Bear.

It has been a great summer. Now that summer is officially over to many I hope the boneheads are gone. At least until next year.

Default Bonehead Alley

We have friends whom we often visit on the west side of Bear Island. We frequently encounter heavy traffic in that area. 🐻

at the risk of beating the same horse over and over, you need a license to cut hair, do carpentry or wash dogs, but any fool can buy a 32' Pursuit with twin 454's and head on out.....

Smile Final Summer fling

By 6 pm this evening the roads and lake will be pretty empty. We wil be able to go out to dinner and not wait or arrive by 430 to get a seat. Will seem like a ghost town compared to this and last weekend.

And we will be out there around town and on the boat this week enjoying every minute of it.

Our kids were high school athletes and that meant our vacations were done by Aug 15th. There were a couple of years when we even closed up labor day weekend. When the younger one went off to college we found out that the lake is completely different from mid-September to mid-October. All the crowds are gone and we had a chance to really enjoy the lake. There were still warm days although the lake temp gets a little too cool for our liking. But you didn't have to worry about the boating boneheads or finding a parking spot at Shep Brown's or waiting for a table at a restaurant. After today that time is back! Enjoy the lake!

Smile Summer's Last Fling

As a day tripper now, I will not do July 4th due to the celebratory involvement or Labor Day because of the final blast of buffoonery!

Looking forward to the month of September that is much less chaotic from a traffic perspective.

Unhappy to be a Masshole, but knowing there is salvation just North makes it palatable.

And people seem amazed when I tell them September and October are my favorite months to be on the island...

Default Wish the restaurants stayed open...

Red Hill Dairy is closed for the season.

"Closed for the season. See ya next year"!

Probably all the help went back to school.

Went to Wolfeboro for dinner two nights ago. It was like a ghost town. There was only one other party in the restaurant so we got great personalized service. You gotta love this time of year!

Default Dewey's open weekends

Talked to Manager last Monday and said would be open weekends. Hopefully it will be every weekend until Columbus Day. Great ice cream and sandwiches.
