Shredding Service ?
I have a lot of old files, with sensitive information, I need to destroy and thought I would shred them. I have a small office shredder machine, but have about 3 large boxes of files, and would take me forever to destroy. Each box weighs about 25-30 lbs. Maybe a 100 lbs total !
Staples has a shredding service but charges $1 a pound. UPS also has a shred service at 69 cnts a pound. At either rate it would be costly ! Any recommendations how to destroy these old files ? Thanks ! |

Shredding Service
Hi
If you can wait, you can take your boxes to a DCU shred event. 3 boxes would be no problem. I went twice with 5+ boxes each time. https://www.dcu.org/community/shredder.html Or These guys are pretty reasonable. http://www.theshredsource.com/ Scott |

Frugal Frannie Dept.
I didn’t feel like shelling out big bucks for our old docs, so I set up the shredder next to my chair in the family room, and shredded away during commercials while watching the news. Relatively painless method and cheap.

In my experience it takes a very surprisingly long time to burn paper files and it's not an easy job. You can't just toss piles of paper on the fire because they will smother it. It's hard to keep the fire going. You have to tear the papers into strips and make sure the fire has constant air. It's pretty tiring and boring. You could also tear them by hand and take them to the dump, which is equally tedious. Best way might be to burn the papers on a hot wood fire and keep loading it with wood. Air pollution??

The heck with all of you. I like my method of shredding during commercials.....20 minutes of painless shredding per 40 minutes of news. 🙄 Easy and cheap, plus no air pollution.

To be in possession of such "super secret" files without being able to drop $69.00 to destroy them is even more disturbing. |

Are you Adam Schiff?
Where did you get the extension that "sensitive" is "Super Secret"? I'm sure you have "Proof" but, of course, you can't reveal it except to hearings in the locked basement. Waaaay overboard. "Sensitve" may be just somebody dancing on top of a piano.

Credit Unions
Check the credit unions. Logix provide free shredding service to all the customers. Since the nearest branch is in Nashua, I found out Northeast Credit Union branch on 106 will shred documents from any CU members.
Libraries use to shred. Not sure if they do anymore.
