Wolfeboro town governance
Who is the current Town Manager and who chairs the Planning Board and zoning Board? Any thoughts on competence?

Thanks but i am looking for how competent they are over there. Not sure they are paying attention. Anyone with experience dealing with them on zoning? No one seems available or answers the phone.

I would go see the Board of Selectman and discuss issues there.

Wolfeboro has always been awful to deal with and they aren't getting any easier. I watched the planning board meeting the other night and I thought I never, ever want to do any projects again. I couldn't go through it.

To me, "Planning Board" is a bit of a misnomer. A lot of what they do is land use compliance, based on proposed plans for development as restricted by zoning, RSA's and related codes, not planning. ZBA can grant exceptions or variances and is quasi-judicial. Again, operating under very specific RSA's and local zoning. The chair of each board should have contact info listed on the town website and the related, detailed, explanation of what they do may be better understood by calling them directly. These boards may also be guided by the town master plan which is required to be updated every 10 years. If you don't like the overall sense of direction you may want to read that plan and perhaps volunteer to be on the committee that updates the report.

You do know they are between planners, right? I liked the old planner apparently the powers did not. Well, actually they have hired one and she (I think it's a she) is due to start if she didn't this week.

The current Town Manager of Wolfeboro is Matt Sullivan.
The Planning Board is chaired by Paul O'Brien and the Zoning Board is chaired by Don Stewart. As for their competence, it's best to check recent town meetings or speak with local residents to get a sense of how well they are performing in their roles. Community feedback can provide more insight into their work. |
