Default State Police in Wolfeboro

Does anyone know why there was such a large state police presence in Wolfeboro today? They were standing in twos on both sides of the road, seemingly checking out passing cars. Lots of local police as well. At first I thought it was just because of the busy weekend, but I don't remember it like this in previous years.

It appeared to me they were focused on the crosswalk. I thought they were intending to ticket drivers that did not stop for pedestrians.

And downtown they'll ticket/warn pedestrians who don't use the crosswalk.
