As a kid, NOTHING beat the the smell of the marine gas and 2-cycle oil at Downings!

Today, a weekday trip from Lakeport to Alton is just perfect.

Smell of diesel when the Mount went by with the old engines. And a bit more rumble, so we could hear her around the point before we could see her.

Sept 27, 2020: At 65-degree water temp, the big lake is still swim-able this late in September what with the low water level and drought-New Hampshire.

I smile thinking of almost 58 yrs at the Lake. My hubby and kids being introduced to it and vacationing here! And of course to all of the Forum posters who make it so enjoyable to reminisce.

Default Happy flying

Catching my son in that perfect mid-air moment when he jumps off the back of the boat. Sun is setting, Meredith looks like a postcard. And the only thing between it and me is a kid suspended - in pure joy.

Ripping down a trail at 80 on 6 inches of fresh snow up in "The County"....

Hauling in a 4lb landlock on 8 1/2 ft flyrod in May............................

A cold frosty morning in my treestand watching the sun melt the frost and the leaves are falling like rain....................even better if a nice 8pt shows up and I'm dragging it shortly thereafter................

Ice cold beer no matter where I am.......................as long as it isn't an IPA

Default The "little things" aren't so little

Just realized what a great, positive, uplifting thread this is, in a year of seemingly constant terrible news.

If you read each post, it reinforces how important the "little things" really are......They're not little at all, they're huge, they matter and they're important!

Launching the boat, headed to Cow. Put the boat in forward and stress melts. That's just the beginning.

The first salmon landed in the spring... (actually every fish landed)

The first glass of Cabernet at the tiki bar...(actually every glass of anything at tiki bar)

The first fire in the outdoor fireplace...(actually every fire)

Sitting out on the deck on this gorgeous sunny day with the only sounds being those of the loons.......beautiful !

Also, having my husband say that he was wrong....that I am 100% correct.
