Cheers. 🍷
We have celebrated several special occasions at the Lyons Den in Gilford. Always a wonderful experience. Our 57th is tomorrow. 🐻

Ledgewater Steakhouse in Bristol. Best steak I have had north of Boston. Better hurry though, because I think they close soon. Also, another cool place is East of Suez in Wolfeboro. Food is excellent, and it's BYOB.

Lyons Den.
Last year we broke tradition and went to the New Woodshed and were disappointed. On the way home we agreed to have a make-up anniversary dinner at the Lyons Den which we did. One week ago today we went to the Den for our 40th anniversary (well shy of Barney Bear's 57th) and had our traditional roast duck. Excellent food and service. Get a reservation well in advance. Most of the recommendations so far are not creative or romantic. Treat her right and take her up to the restaurant in the Sugar Hill Inn in Sugar Hill. You will have a very, very pleased bride...

Another vote for Lyons Den. Best duck ever.

I can also vouch for the Ledgewater in Bristol but I have been "flamed" for including non-Winni restaurants in past posts...not that I care about anyone else's opinion....

Most romantic places to have dinner
I'm a native and the natives choose The Manor on Golden Pond as the best romantic spots. Followed by Tavern 27. Both have piano bars and a beautiful view of a moonlight sky!
For an overnight trip, Mountain View Grand! http://www.mountainviewgrand.com/

BigDog, since you didn't specify romantic (and I'm not good at romance), I'll give another vote for Lyon's Den. Nice, quiet, attentive staff and my wife approves. We went for our anniversary dinner in the recent past and were not disappointed.

I would HIGHLY recommend Krista's in Cornish, ME
It is about a 40 minute drive from Wolfeboro and is always great. Definitely a good anniversary choice. |

Mini Vacation
Didn't mention around Lakes Region so you may want to try the White Mountain Hotel & Resort in N. Conway. Stay for the weekend. Dining room is round(romantic) over looking valley & mountains(get window seat). Has piano player there when we went. Food is very good, has full breakfast or brunch on Sundays. Built next to cliffs. Our place to go when we stay in N Conway. Went there a month ago(celebrated our 48th). Cathedral Ledge is nearby to see whole valley. Go to Bretton Woods, ride chair lift up to restaurant, food OK but view is spectacular(Mt Washington Hotel). Tour the Hotel. Shop downtown. Plenty of other things to do.
Enjoy your anniversary. Dave M |

White Barn Inn
My wife and I have always enjoyed our anniversary dinner at the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, ME. Not such a long drive from the lake. It is also possible to stay at the inn and there are also many other nice hotels to stay the night. Dinner (several courses) is one price and not inexpensive, however, you will enjoy something extraordinarily enjoyable. Probably nothing like you have experienced previously.
Enjoy and happy anniversary. I am a retired workaholic and continuing aquaholic. |

One of the things I look for in an Anniversary locale is a more intimate ambiance, i.e. small room and interesting decor. I have been to O's for an anniversary and I love the Lyon's Den but neither meets the intimate criteria. Over 10 years ago, I had an Anniversary dinner at the manor and it was great (ambiance, service, food) but the prices were easily the highest I paid in the Winni region. I didn't care because of the occasion but it wasn't going to be a frequent spot to dine.
Of course ambiance may not matter to you. |

Great choices
mcdude and Woody stepping up the game!
Mise en Place is a level up in food sophistication from just about any place else on the lake, and it's got a terrific small country French feel. White Barn Inn is an order of magnitude beyond that. Probably one of the very best restaurants in New England (with a price tag and dress code to match). It's fun even to just read the menu (link below). Though I typically can find only a dish or two that does not put me off, I'll order that one dish, and WOW!. This year, for our 29th, we went to Lemon Grass, also a great choice for something more creative than standard lake fare. http://16181-presscdn-0-30.pagely.ne...ust-5-2017.pdf http://lemongrassnh.net/wp-content/u...16/10/menu.pdf Bon appetit! |

Feel bad throwing this one out there because it's a favorite that flies completely under the radar. Corner House in Sandwich. Sit upstairs, you won't regret it.
