I wish I could join! My wife and I stayed in Center Harbor when we got married (Castle in the Clouds)
There are some great views from those docks! Just like everywhere I guess |

parking for the Fest
automobiles can park numerous places in Center Harbor. The beach itself has a large lot and there are many public lots across route 25...parking should not be an issue!

What types of items are looked for? For the raffles, I mean.
Just curious what I should be looking to bring with me if I can make it. |

Hoping the Tadpole and I can make it. If so I will be donating a stained glass butterfly window decoration. We won't be moved up there by then but would make the trip up to see and meet some of our hopefully to be NH forum residents and neighbors.
Do we have to post pictures of the donations? Even if we can't make it I could still pony express the piece up there for the raffle if I know whom to send it too.

The NJ contingent can attend!
GTXrider and I will be there. The 6th falls right in the middle of our annual family vacation get-together. Looking forward to seeing my forum friends and finally being able to introduce gtxrider in person. This will be the 1st one he's been able to attend.

Some observations about the raffle for forum members wondering about how it all works.
Over the years we have seen quite an extreme range of items. The items range from physical stuff worth a few dollars to fantastic hand made quilts from Quilt Lady. Many items are gift certificates to local businesses. Often times these are donated by the establishments or purchased by forum members and brought to the FF. There is not a lot of pressure really. The items are usually arranged on a table with plastic glasses to collect the raffle tickets. Everyone decides if they want to buy any tickets, how many to buy, and what cups to put them in. Some people buy a few, some people buy a lot. Either way, we all have fun. The odds of winning are much better than any lottery you will every play. Several forum members usually collect contributions from those of us who can't make it in person. We have a few items that have been shipped to our house already by members who sent a PM to RG for our address. We have had folks drop things off at the island and picked items up by boat. No hard rules. Some people send cash to trusted forum friends who do the tickets and hopefully collect the winnings for them if they win. Everybody does their own thing with item donations or ticket purchases so it's impossible to get it wrong. No peer pressure to donate. I think last year some people who were at the park came over and bought tickets. The money all goes to charity so it's all good. Plenty of teasing of winners by the losers. But we won't name any names |

My sister won the quilt from last year. Just two weeks ago it was finally hung...against nice freshly painted walls in our family home.
Looks awesome. Thank you Quilt Lady. I also won a beautiful pic of views from Mt. Major. My husband had it framed for me is now hangs where all of us can appreciate it. Thank you Forum! When I get real high tech ....I will post pics! Looking forward to my 3rd FFest! See you all soon! |

Sadly - I can't make it.
I will probably miss by 2 hours. When I saw the date, I thought that I could make it this year. Unfortunately, I won't be able to leave PA until about 9 am, which would put me there at about 5. Darn! Have a great time all!

FF actually works with the crazy calendar this year. It's usually held when we're either between trips to the Lake or on days when I need to pick up or drop off campers. Hoping to make it.

That would be great! After all, you were a big reason this whole tradition started.

Forum 2011 - suggested things-to-do!
Bring a bathing suit: Center Harbor has a large roped off swim area, lifeguards, humongous swim raft, changing rooms, & rest rooms on site! Bring a basketball; outdoor basketball on site nearby! Bring a kayak; easy unload at the nearby boat launch and circular roadway, and paddle a very short distance around the town docks and roped off swim area to where you can very easily drag your kayak up onto the sand next to the funky antique water pump building and keep an eye on it while either swimming or eating or something. Bringing a kayak could very well be a good way to keep from getting too bored while the Forum-2011 formalities go through their paces! Learn how to do an eskimo roll in your kayak! Is there anyone who will volunteer to teach eskimo rolls on a very sandy and gentle Winnipesaukee spot next to the swim area? Volleyball: There's a volleyball net and court set up on the right end of the beach! VOLLEYBALL ANYONE? Who has a volley ball? Bring a 1.99 day old roast beef or turkey sub from nearby Heath's Super-Duper for something to eat! Most likely, not having anything better to do Saturday August 6, I'll be there! Lots of easy parking about 200-yards away, up the hill behind The Coe House on the unpaved, dirt parking lot area.
