Default OBX fishing

Hope I don't get jumped on for info posted that is not concerning the LR but I thought some of the fisherman/women might enjoy a fishing report since very little has been posted on the lake's region fishing yet.

I'm presently in Nags Head, NC on the Outer Banks. I've hit the beach to surf cast most everyday without much success but yesterday I decided to try one of the fishing piers. It was worth the $9.00 for the action it offered. Skates were plentiful ranging for 5-7 lbs. and dogfish also were hitting the shrimp bait. A couple of guys from MASS were there with their kids and were having a blast hauling in these ancient looking fish. I'll drive down to Hatteras tomorrow, as I hear they are beginning to see speckled trout there.

Default Good Luck...

... fishing for the "specs". The're fun to catch and real good eating. For what it's worth, the last time I fished for them I had great luck using 4" paddle tail grubs, chartruese and red. Long casts and pretty quick jerky retrieve with the lure only a foot or two below the surface. I caught 'em on "the fly" too using small deceivers. I hope you tear 'em up.

You're not really comparing a 5 week Antarctic adventure to your fishing trip to Nags Head, NC?

When an active member of this forum and the Lakes Region community takes such an unusual adventure I think it is an appropriate "Lakes Region topic". Local newpapers certainly found it newsworthy. That doesn't mean every vacation trip taken by every member is acceptable. The difference seems clear to me. If you take an interesting adventure to some far away part of the world I certainly hope you tell the forum about it.

When Richard takes his trip into space I think that will also be worthy of mention here and I hope he tells us about it.

Default No comparison of course

It's your forum Don, and I try to keep that in mind whenever I write anything, just sometimes the devil gets in me. So, how are those Lakes Region fish biting?
