Banks Chevrolet in Concord has a large selection of used cars, plus they can look for one for you if you have something specific in mind. We bought my wife's Cobalt there 5 years ago had a good experience.

I would 2nd Banks Chevrolet in Concord. I have bought several vehicles there.
Check to see if Bob Beaumeister is still there. He is also a former Winni boater.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Default Cars.com

NADA.com and others have a fantastic lists of used cars. Once I have one in mind, I will check it out. Most if not all used dealers will allow you to have the vehicle checked out by an independent mechanic. I drove a used car from Nashua to have my mechanic check it out. I return it and did not buy the vehicle.

I kind of lucked out to purchased my two last vehicles right in the Laconia/Gilford area. Both were about 10 years old with less than 60K miles on it! One was bought from Young's Auto Sales in Laconia and the other at Skip King's in Gilford. Both have very good reputation and all cars are available on the internet. Both cars have well over 150K without any problems.

My only bad experience is with Autoserve in Tilton. Long story so I won't repeat it.

Why don't you check out the CarMax website? The nearest location is N. Attleboro, MA. I know people that have good luck selling and buying cars from them. Other forum members possibly have had didn't experiences of dealing with them.

KarKarft in Gilford is owned by Skip King, he has been in the car business for over 40 years.

He cherry picks BMWs and Audis from all over the east coast he knows quality used cars better than anybody around. he won't by or sell a used car that is not excellent.

All of the cars are run through his partners shop German Motosports which is adjacent to KarKarft and is run by the mechanics from the former auto east they all know these cars completely.

I bought a 2008 Audi in 2011 there as a second vehicle and put about 6,000 miles a year on it. Last year my cost to own consisted of Reg., insurance, fuel and $167.- for inspection, oil change and tire rotation Thats it. you can't get a more reliable safer car and its a blast to drive.

I bought my MB from Skip King. However according to the MB dealer in Manchester German Motorsport skimp on a few things, which they have corrected at no extra charge. Mainly computer software upgrades and a few tech bulletin stuff that are not recall. It pays to at least go to the dealer every now and then.
MB service is second to none. The free detailing after service is a nice feature!

Skip King is reputable. Nice vehicles.

Note, I took my car to his "new partner" German Motorsports for years when Buzz was his own man and he was reputable. Now that he has high overhead, nothing is reasonable. Last time I took my car to get inspected his new office manager Dave stated that I needed upwards of $5,700 and he could keep going . . . two years later and a simple $300 weld and $1,000 in brakes my car is still hugging the road right. Auto Haus of Meredith is where I went back to, it's inconvenient but they're honest.

And if you are looking for a real "late" model car, I highly recommend Lowrey's Auto in Tilton.

Good luck in your search!

I just bought a 2012 Silverado at Banks. Pretty good experience, although they tried to really undervalue my trade-in. A week after walking out, they called me and made me a much better offer, which we agreed on.

If the above person is not there, ask for Ryan McGonigle (a close friends nephew). He was very easy to work with.

Default Peters

I bought my Pilot from them a few years ago. Was pretty straightforward and painless. Do some of my service there, they get me in and out quickly.

Prior to this purchase we looked at a Pathfinder at their Nissan section and didn't care for the people at all. More of what I would call traditional salesmanship. Took one for a test drive, didn't really like it, asked about another one on the lot, was told they couldn't find it, and we left. Just didn't feel right.

So both good and bad experiences from the same place...

Bought 2 Nissans and a Honda from Peter's. Nothing but good things to say about them. I even paid whatever "extra" they get in their service departments to have them serviced there. Two thumbs up from me for Peter's.

You are completely missing the whole point in buying a used car.
It is not the selling dealers reputation.

You should be seeking a one owner, low miles on odometer, accident free car with zero rust.
The brand and make are not that important. Although, obviously, some cars are better then others.
Obtain a Carfax (yes, not perfect).
Take any potential used car so any shop for a look over. Not the selling dealer.

The dealer may have a good reputation and you get a crappy car. Then what?

OK. The screamers will come out of the woodwork on this part.
I only recommend the following.
Chevrolet
Ford
Any Japanese Manufacturer car.

Avoid any German car.
Avoid any English car.
Avoid any Korean car.
Avoid any Dodge or Chrysler or Fiat.
Skip the cutesy cars such as Mini and Smart.

Default Consider a Volvo

For years car experts consider Volvo a good used car to look into.

Absolutely true.

Sadly, Ford purchased Volvo. And things got a little mixed up.

Ford dumped Volvo in 2008.

Volvo is now owned by Geely Motors - a Chinese company.
And who knows what the Chinese are doing to make sure Volvo attempts to make a profit.
