Default Crappies or rock bass

I'm new to fishing so I was wondering what is the difference between the rock bass and crappies that were mentioned in one of the forums?
I'm fishing near Levitt Park end of the lake and was wondering if these fish are there.
Does anyone have pictures if they caught either of these two fish.

Of course, smallies can also have red eyes (quite common) and in rare cases, large mouth can to but this is very rare.
