Experts Needed: Where on the Lake?
Hi Everyone,
Long time reader first time writer...hopefully this is the correct sub-forum otherwise, my apologies to the moderators. This weekend my mother remembered she used to visit Winnipesaukee during the summer as a child. I was curious if anyone knew where this photo might have been taken? Thanks! Weirs Beach
I believe it's Weirs Beach. I see Howard Johnson's in the background.

This view shows how HoJo's would have been in the background in a photo taken on the beach.

Cool, Faro's/Lobster Pound used to be a HoJo's? And look at all those trees!

Looks like late 1950s based on the cars.

There is a '57 Ford Fairlane and a '55 or'56 Chevy among the cars

Wow! Thanks for the help everyone and I'd agree judging by the photos it does look like Weirs beach. Amazing how much it's changed yet still looks the same.

Nobody has mentioned the building to the right . I remember that. Was it a drive in?

Don't know In that photo but that is what was before it burned down was the Wide Open Saloon and the motel that was attached, it looks like it was a motel in that photo as well, drive-in entrance down the middle to the entrance building before opening to the parking area for drive in

Anyway, always great to see the old photos, thanks to the OP. Last edited by Slickcraft; 10-17-2017 at 07:59 PM. Reason: ad link to ad |
