Default Barstool Pond Hockey

Breaking news from ThinactiveMatt:

Looks like Barstool Sports is going to invade Meredith this February. Better lock down those short term Laconia rentals...

Really don’t know what the big deal is? Looks like the tournament that was previously sponsored by LaBatts is now sponsored by Barstool.

Default Barstool Pond Hockey

It looks like it might be a second tournament in Meredith. Saw a post online that has the date Feb 21 & 22. The PHC is the weekend of 1/31 - 2/2.

That’s good news. More winter attractions means more revenue for our local businesses.

Is it a second tournament or has Barstool taken over the original? The guys doing it in past have done a fantastic job but if Barstool is involved it will go to another level. For those unaware Barstool Sports is HUGE with the under 30 crowd.

Checked the PHC website. Looks like 2 separate tourneys a few weeks apart. Good luck to both but not sure how that will work out. Maybe if the new one was on different part of lake. Wolfeboro bay?

More details available.
Lake Winnipesaukee - Meredith, New Hampshire

Friday, Feb 21st Welcome Party

Saturday, Feb 22nd Tournament

Live Music at Event

So, this is a second pond hockey event in Meredith within three weekends. From the video, assuming that it is being managed by the same folks that run the original tournament.

and the weekend inbetween will be the fishing derby, so looks like they are piggy backing off of the PHC

so question is, they going to block off the existing rinks for the derby or will people be skating over old fishing holes lol. Will be interesting how they set up

I would imagine that the rinks would stay up but that's not going to make the fisherman happy.

Smile Thank You!

Thank you so much Scott Crowder for starting all the pond hockey here in Meredith and bringing in so much revenue to the lake in just that short period of time. It's also so nice to have such a nice family event that eveyone can enjoy.

I'm also wondering if there is enough time to make this one as organized at PHC. in way of all the aspects logistics for the participants.

Barstool has plenty of money behind them, I am sure it will not be an issue unless the weather does not cooperate

They shouldn't need quite as much organization as the NEPHC as the event will be much smaller with just 32 teams scheduled to play. Also, they've recently had a ton of success launching a series of golf tournaments all over the country so they have plenty of experience hosting similar events. Lastly, they're a multi-million dollar operation so their budget to clear whatever hurdles may come up is much larger than NEPHC has to work with to host a much larger event. In short, they won't have any problems pulling this off.

With only 32 teams in play, they will only need a fraction of the rinks (maybe 8 as opposed to 20-something?) that the NEPHC uses, so I'd anticipate the area surrounding the small island in Meredith Bay will remain roped off to ice fishermen but the vast majority of the bay will be open.

This event will be more about the party Friday night than the actual hockey on Saturday. Barstool knows how to bring a good time so looking forward to this event.
