Default Fire Extinguisher Recall

The great Team at MVYC alerted us to this and thought I would share with all as you begin Prepping your boats for launch ........... If your Marina did not mention, "shame on them" !

Kidde Fire Extinguishers .... which are factory supplied in many boat models for years had a Major recall late last year .......... So check yours before launch

November 2, 2017 - In conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kidde announced a recall to replace certain Kidde fire extinguishers. The replacement program was initiated because certain fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to activate, posing a risk of failure to discharge. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard. The product recall involves two styles of Kidde disposable fire extinguishers: plastic handle fire extinguishers and plastic push-button fire extinguishers.

Default Patience

I did return several extinguishers in November as a result of this recall. You just need to be patient expecting the new ones to arrive. It was at least 8 weeks before the replacements arrived - and they are a definite improvement over the recalled ones. FYI - make sure you follow the directions regarding Fedex shipping - it is all prepaid but for safety reasons Fedex needs to know that your package is part of the recall
