Default House cleaning service

After a well named cleaning service visited my house and made an estimate of $145-$165 (and maybe a little more) to clean we agreed to have them clean our house. (No contract) They sent a bill for $450!
We tried to agree at $250 (because there was some acorn shells) and they refused to revise the bill. They said if we didn’t pay we could be accused of theft of services. They also want to charge 10% late charges PER MONTH.

Is this allowed?

Sounds like you may have left the estimate open ended and didn’t get anything in writing? I agree it sounds like a sizable overcharge but I guess they can charge what they want without a contract. Call a lawyer?

Whoa--stop this train! 3X the estimate? 10%/month? They are grifters and they think they can scare you. Call their bluff on "theft of services" and tell them you've decided to call the police and report them for fraud.

Then will then rant and rave. After they are done ranting, tell them you will pay $165 if they send a new bill that indicates that $165 would be payment in full.

There is no contract so they cannot charge a 10% late fee. If I were you I would send them what you think is fair (250.00?). If they want more then let them try to come after you. Don’t be scared by idle threats as they are just trying to get you to pay the entire bill. For 200.00 they are not going to hire a lawyer and sue you or even take you to small claims court it’s just not cost effective

Default My housekeeper is the best

I use Dedes Cleaning and she is excellent. Good price and house is immaculate when she leaves.

Her number is 603 630 3502.

I'm in Moultonborough, message me if you need a reference. I've been using her for 10 years.
