Default Thank you Veterans.

A special thank you on this Veterans Day to all those, both past and present, that have served our great Country.
This past Election Day, we were able to Vote for our President. This is just one thing we owe to those who have protected this Country and our freedoms. There are Men and Women Soldiers in harms way right now giving us their all to make sure that we stay a Free Country. Lets not forget what they have given all of us. Say a thank you to a Veteran today. Make sure you fly your flag today too.
God Bless all of you.
Kathy and Paul

We got a rare, very unexpected, phone call from one of our four sons yesterday. It was a quick hello from our US Navy Seabee and it made our day. We are proud of all the past and present serving, but raising the flag these days is all the more special...Making the trip to Great Lakes for a son's Navy Graduation in a couple weeks...always fun!!!!

Same here, just talked to our son.

This is the first time in several years that our son or son-in-law have not been in Iraq or Afghanistan on Nov 11.

Our son-in-law, a US Marine, with 5 combat deployments, serves on a flight crew flying V-22 Osprey's, currently in Japan and on cycle to deploy to Afghanistan in mid 2013.

Our son, 2 combat deployments, is a Naval Academy, Annapolis graduate and a Captain US Marines, recently home for Afghanistan, now serving stateside.

I believe we all say to all our service Men and women for their wonderful service to our country. I'm a proud vet from the US Navy and glad that I was able to protect this wonderful country of ours.

EDIT as NoBozo said and I turned 73 today the 13th.

I appreciate the thanks from the posters here and elsewhere.
And I thank the Navy Corpsmen and Navy doctors who treated me on board the USS Sanctuary.

Couldn't agree more! Without all of them we would have nothing!

Like you, I began my service in the 60's, but in the Army, as a UH1-D Huey dust off medic.

I was never in the Military. Though being the son of a Marine Corps Drill instructor I pretty much might as well have been. In my past life though, I did quite a bit of work with the Military in Aviation support roles. I was one of the only Civilians at Hanscom AFB that could do any support work for HMX1 and also did quite a bit of avionics work on Apache, Sikorsky UH-3H Sea King, and Pave Lows. A little work on Hueys but those were getting fairly old and not many came in there except Guard work. I got to see the Stealth up close way before it was allowed, and I was also one of only 5 of the Top Secret cleared Civilians to be able to go aboard Air Force One and go inside the avionics bays and electronics vaults which was pretty cool. So you can see I have a fair bit of respect for the Men and Women that keep the Military ticking along with the pride that they show everyday. God Bless and Keep them.

My take may be a little different from most. I served in the Navy for 9 years prior to and during Vietnam. In my case, my Rate was never called to combat. I am proud of my service but I don't blow my own horn..and I think most service members feel the same way. NB

EDIT: I just turned 71 on 11/11/12.

I was in the Korean conflict, so I'm a little older. Thanks for YOUR post.
