Default Ash Borer

Heard a rumor that the Emerald Ash Borer has been seen in this area.
Hope it's not true ....got 4 beautiful trees and they are in a spot that is almost impossible to reach with a crane so they would need to be climbed to take done.

If they are not there yet, they will be soon. They have decimated ash trees up through the Concord area. I have a bunch of ash trees on my property, and treat the ones I care about. But it is only a matter of time for me, as I have seen the bugs around my property.

I suspect they have been around for a few years. Over on the back roads behind Squam I have seen the purple traps in the trees for a 2 or 3 years so I figure they must be around. I saw a couple traps in Tuftonboro last year. Just as alarming is the hemlock adelgid. I'm battling that now in Mass.

Default Help!

Help me out here as I have one very important Ash tree on the island that supplies an enormous amount of shade. What does this ash borer look like and what can I do to prevent it from getting at my tree?.

Thanks!

Dan

Default yep

I've seen them out on Cow Island for at least 3 years. Not many, but hard to miss with their metallic green shells.

Root injection treatment (done by a professional tree guy) every 2 years is what I do,
