Default Urgent Care clinic?

Does anyone know of an urgent care facility in the area? I think my daughter may have strep throat, and needs basic antibiotics, but don't want to have to go to the ER. Looks like the closest CVS Minute Clinic is in Concord, but was hoping there was something closer.

There is a Convenience Care in LRGH that is separate from the ER.

Highly recommend the one at LRGH. Weve used it with the kids a number of times. They are very fast and do a great job!

Thanks - we went once a number of years ago, and I seem to remember they billed it as an ER visit vs. a walk-in clinic visit, and ended up being much much more expensive. Do you know if that is still the case, or is the cost more like a walk-in clinic?

There is one on Rte. 16 in Ossipee. You go over Rte. 28 from Wolfeboro and go south (right)at Tractor Supply, Hannford, Job Lots area. It is a few miles down. You could also go down 109 by Lake Wentworth to the little store/gas station(I think it is called Puffin' Stop) and go north (left). I am not sure which way would be closer from Wolfeboro. I can't think of the name of it-I think it is White Mountain something.

This is a fairly new service, separate from the ER. Suggest you give them a call to ask about the billing.

Default LRGH is a great concept and ER option

I went to LRGH urgent care a few weeks ago for a torn meniscus. I was very impressed with the unit, very quiet, clean and comfortable. The unit gives the impression of a modern doctors office. I was told I needed to have insurance or provide a deposit for the urgent care services. I was really surprised to see my co-payment was only $10., like any doctor office visit. My ER deductible is $50. so I saved some cash too. I was in and out within 45 minutes and would highly recommend their unit.

The store on the corner of Rte. 28 and 109 is now called "On the Run". So if you are hunting for the clinic, that is the name of the convenience store I mentioned in my above post.

Sorry, I should have said 16 and 109.

From Wolfboro, take 109 to 16 in Wakefield and make a left, about 500' up the road. Very good service, we have used them several times.

Default LRGH Urgent Care

was in the news a few months ago. Seems they turn people away because of financial responsibility and sending them to the Laconia Clinic. The clinic is not urgent care nor do they take walk ins. After this news hit the street, they denied turning people away. That is the last I heard of it.

I never had to have urgent care, but I know a few that went to Concord.

I went to the LRGH Urgent Care two summers ago for a Lyme rash. The entrance is the same as the ER, but a nurse goes over your issue with you and sends you to either the urgent care or the ER from there depending on how serious it is. They scanned my credit card ahead because there was some kind of discount if they did that, but I guess my insurance paid it all because I never had a charge on it. Then they called me at home a week later to make sure I was doing ok. They were busy that day so it was not quick, but it was better than driving to Concord.

The LRGC Convenience Care entrance is not the same as the ER, it now is inside the main lobby.

Thanks everyone for the great advice and help. We ended up waiting to come north and went to one by our house instead of risk a problem. Turned out it was probably just allergies. But now I know where to go!

Default Walk-In Care Near Wolfeboro

The walk-in care facility referred to above is White Mountain Medical Center. Link below:

That doesn't make sense... the Laconia Clinic is not a "walk-in" type of facility. It is an office that houses various doctors that see patients with appointments. The name "Clinic" is somewhat deceiving in its name.

Hence, I think the original allegation of the Urgent care sending people to the "clinic" was fabricated by a begrudged individual that assumed that the Laconia Clinic was a walk-in clinic.
