Haffners-Old Country Store
Demolishing buildings on the corner. Thanks Laconia Daily Sun. What's next for the property. Paper didn't say.
Also noticed Agway is now TruValue. Will miss the Agway name. Big fish swallow little fish. |

I believe a new gas station and pump layout are going in that location.
And while True Value purchased Agway, the rebranding I believe is the choice of the owner... which is the same family that owned the Agway. |

The Agway became TruValue a very long time ago, when the Agway brand went away. While the Agway brand has come back, the store is still TruValue. However we still refer to it as the Agway store. It still carries the same items like grain, seed potatoes, garden tools, seeds, and Carharrt clothing. Alan |

Appreciate the updates.
Good to know the TruValue is still family owned. The Agway name goes back a long way. |

Probably changed it to show more of a hardware flair.
We purchased their Home Center, and Tractor Supply opened right next door. |

A Lot Of Stuff Coming
Quote:
The Dunkin's will have two drive-thru lanes rather than one, one will be a traditional drive-thru lane and the second one will be for pickup for those who ordered ahead online. They will be able to stack up to 22 cars in the drive-thru. The convenience store will also be there, but I think there was talk about a third business being there - maybe a pizza joint - but I can't confirm it. The new Haffner's is slated to open in May, and seeing the progress being made I'd have to say May is quite doable. They just finished shingling the roof the other day and have started putting up the stone facade on the outside. |

Haffner's non-ethanol 91-octane gasoline
So, the Haffner's on Route 25 in Moultonborough has non-ethanol, 91-octane gasoline which is especially good in snowblowers that become dormant while waiting the next snow.
This Haffner's 91-octane, non-ethanol gasoline ..... www.kbb.com/car-advice/gasoline-guide/ ..... costs $4.55/gal and it will make a Troy-Bilt run like an Ariens, the King of Snow. So, will this new Haffner's in Gilford be selling non-ethanol, 91-octane gasoline or you need to go to Moultonborough, or what?

Coming Along Nicely
I've been keeping an eye on the construction of the new Haffner's and it is coming along nicely.
Concrete has been poured for the new gas pump pads. The exterior of the new building looks to be complete and I am assuming the interior work is continuing apace. The new signs were delivered earlier this week. (I saw them on a truck when I was on my way home from work.) I figure paving in and around the gas pumps is likely to take place very soon as it looks like they've been prepping the ground for paving. I'm hoping the May opening someone mentioned is still possible, maybe Memorial Day weekend? We'll have to wait and see. |

Nice!!
It’s really a great looking store! The general contractor has really made some impressive progress on it also! Can’t wait for it to open!!

Haffner's
Is Haffner's rated top tier gas? It is very important if you have turbo motors. I had been using Cumbies for years until I bought an Audi. I found out the fuel injections need deep cleaning and there was carbon buildup. Switch to Mobil with Shaw's loyalty to keep the gas bill down, and the problems disappear.
Donkies was owned by Caffula, a sleazeball Francise developer. Has that changed?

In The Beginning...
I believe that might be the case at the beginning so they can get the place up and running. After all, they don't need to have the interior complete top to bottom in order to service just drive-thru. Besides, the interior space is too large to be "just a drive-thru."

Haffner’s Gilford
I heard from a reliable source that the new Haffners in Gilford will be selling ethanol free gas. They have a 5000 gallon tank dedicated to ethanol free gas!

There was a lot of work going on this morning but still a ways to go. Looks like a push to be open for the holiday but they may not make it.

Gas Pumps Open?
I drove by there just a little while ago and the sign was lighted, listing gas prices and the availability of 91 octane ethanol-free gas and off-road diesel.
There's still work going on behind the building and it looks like they're working on the drive-thru lanes out back. |

They're Open...For The Most Part
I stopped by on my way home from an appointment in Laconia, checking out the gas pumps and filling the tank in the car. I did see the 'triple' pumps that carry the E10 gasoline, diesel, and non-ethanol 91 octane gas. There is a separate pump in one of the other lanes for non-road diesel. Easy to get in or out. While not too busy, there were more than a few cars and trucks gassing up. There was also a lot more parking than in the past.
I also went into the store to check it out and, while still a work in progress, it is almost completed. Coolers and shelves were being stocked, the deli was operating and pre-made packaged sandwiches, pizza, and some pastries were available as were made-to-order food. The NH Lottery guy was there installing the ticket sales terminal and scratch ticket dispenser. Dunk's is still in progress and while I could not see how far along the work was in the interior, there were plenty of tradesmen there working on the site. All in all I liked what I saw. Yes my wife reports cars, trucks and boats getting gas. However Dunkin' is not open yet.
Be careful not to get run over in the Hannaford grocery parking lot. Keep moving in the store or someone will run up your heels with a cart. Alan |

They're Coming!
Other than picking up my truck from the shop a little later today, I have no plans in going anywhere. I also won't be going near the lake over the next few days unless it's first thing in the morning or early evening. I don't want to deal with any of the Cap'n Boneheads over the holiday weekend.

I stopped for gas today, as reported much more room to maneuver and more pumps.
The non-ethanol was only 90 octane, I need a minimum of 91 (13:1 compression ratio). They did have 10% ethanol 93 octane so that was it. Alan |

Is there access to Dunkin from inside the Haffner's store or is it just the drive up?

I stopped by the other evening and it was nice to see some of the staffers I knew from the 'old' Haffner's. It looks like they've got everything up and running. I did see the queue at Dunk's drive-thru yesterday morning on my way to work, so it looks like things are back to 'normal', but with better facilities!

Haffner’s
This place is a gold mine! We went there today for gas and to pick up a couple things and I could not believe the amount of traffic that place gets! Every pump was taken up, just about every parking space and the drive up for Dunk’s was packed! Cars and trucks just kept coming in and out the entire time I was there. I also go by there at least three weekdays a week and they are packed in the morning as well!
Oh yeah if you like chicken we bought some of their fresh made broasted chicken for lunch and it was great! Glad to see the money they put into that place really panned out well for them! Dan

We stopped there last Friday. Nice place. But, my grandson left his tackle box at home and Haffner's struck out. At Lakeshore Deli and Market next to Patrick's, we hit the jackpot. Very happy grandson.

The "new" Lakeshore Market and Deli is excellent. The owners who took it over last year closed the store and spent last winter inside renovating and it looks great. Clean, bright and a lot of great products. Among other things, we have bought sandwiches, cookies, and even fresh lobster meat there and all have been good quality. Judging by the increase in the number of customers in the store they will do well.

On Golden Pond lowest price gasoline
Before I fill up the Subaru tank with $39-42 gasoline I always drive around to at least six different local gas stations to check for the low price. Each and every time, lately like the last six months, the lowest price is always the On Golden Pond-Holderness store, owned by Heath's-Center Harbor that has the lowest price. Right now is at about $3.299 or so for regular gas.
Haffner's is something like 3.449 right now while Golden Pond is lower by 15-cents so hut-hut-hut on over to Golden Pond. Have not been INSIDE their Golden Pond store for coffee, pizza, or fried chicken in about 15-years but you better believe I'll get inside, there, one of these years! .....

Busy Indeed!
Whenever I stop by, be it morning, afternoon, or evening, it's pretty much busy.
I like the new setup and the fact that I can get 90-octane ethanol-free gas which I use for my generator (if needed), my pickup (if needed), or snowblower (not needed yet). About the only complaint I have is that the BBQ chicken wrap is rarely available. I don't know if it's because it's so popular so it doesn't last long on the shelves or that they don't make enough for the demand. If that's the worst I can say about the place, then that's pretty good. |
