Default Sprint service ?

I'm considering switching my cell service to Sprint. I've been told their service has improved in the Winni region. Any opinions on this?

My daughter has Sprint because her company supplies her phone. Our house is in Meredith and she gets terrible service there. I have Verizon and I get very good service. There are a few weak spots but it's better than any other cell provider.

Default Sprint Service

Turn on roaming and you will get Verizon coverage.
There is roaming charge. I was told if you live in an area where coverage is spotty they may waived the roaming charge. Ask.

Default Wifi Calling

I think one of the smart phone features many people fail to take advantage of is "Wifi Calling". If you have internet service at your house / camp but limited cell service, you should be using wifi calling. Its free and can be used anywhere you have wifi internet or a wifi internet hotspot. No roaming charges and great reception.

We use it when traveling to the Turks & Caicos islands every winter which allows us to send and receive calls for free. Almost every resort and restaurant has wifi so it works out very well! It can used the same way around the lake...

The latest 4G LTE phones from Verizon will automatically switch between 4G and wifi depending on signal strength. A great feature to have!

Default US Cellular

My US Cellular service is very good on Cow, but I do not have internet, except using my phone as a hot spot. What would you suggest for internet service?

How much data per month do you need? If you have good cell service, use your hot spot. We do that a lot when we go on vacation. Access it when you need it and disconnect as soon as you're done. If you are going off island, wait until you get on the mainland and find wifi.

I just switched from sprint to verizon, literally just got off the phone with them . We're in the Boston area, and sprint has been awful. Haven't really had a chance to test them at the lake, but I believe VZ will be much better. We had ATT last summer and it was decent at winni. No svc at the cottage but once on the lake or our driving, svc was good.

Don't get your hopes up with Verizon. I had my call dropped twice this morning on Rt. 11 in Gilford, over by Governor's Island. Verizon sucks, just like all the others.

LOL great. I'm sure its better than sprint though. Honestly, around our home area, sprint has been awful. I mean I drop calls daily. And the no voice / data at the same time is the worst.

The last time I remember dropping a call with Verizon was in 2002, when I was looking at land in Vermont.

Take a ride sometime from Gilford to Alton Bay. Several areas where there is just no signal.

This isn't the city, where there is a tower every 1/4 mile. They pick high places, which covers "pretty good" until the next cell. Would you spend $100 mill to cover every square inch for $1M in revenue? Of course not, you partner with other carriers that cover "most"' of your dead areas. None of these guys are perfect, pick the one that covers the best in the are you roam.

I have had Verizon for many years and the service has been mostly good in Gilford. Recently (the last two weeks) I have no service in many areas that I previously had 4 bars in. Verizon denies any tower problems. I talked to a friend who has been experiencing the same issues with Verizon coverage for the past two weeks so I doubt it is a phone issue, I think it is a tower problem.

After reading on this site about the Google Fi phone I ordered one that should be here tomorrow. I hope it is an improvement but they give you 14 days to determine that. We shall see..................
