$53 to register my little boat?

Ouch......ouch......ouch.......fifty three dollars it cost me to register my 16' aluminum vee hull with a 40-hp outboard........lord have mercy baby.......my my my.......is it just me or has the fee been raised way up this year.......and with these high prices......is it any wonder that the lake has been just incredibly empty of motor boats so far this season.......where are all the boats......used to be there would always be a number of die-hard boaters outeth there-eth regardless wind, weather, whatever-eth......but not so far this year.......53 smackeroonies.......for a little putt putt fishing boat.......egaddddd Governor.........come on now-eth?

I think what has gone up is the fee that some marina's and business are charging as an Agent.... I don't think either of my boat registrations went up this year...

FYI.....I just purchased a used jetski (1999), and was quoted $53, by my local Town Clerk for boat registration....

last year i registered my 12' aluminum rowboat that i use a 28lb thrust electric motor on and it jumped from 23.00 to 46.00 in 1 year. just to putt around in the river and fish for bass. I also have to have all the safety equipment like a full size gass powered boat such as, fire extinguisher, life jackets ect... and there is no fuel onboard. takes the fun right out of having fun.

That is why I'm getting ride of mine. I'vew decided it is way to expensive for the amount of time I spend on it.
If I add up the cost of our two snowmobiles 3 ATV's and 2 Motorcycles it doesn't even come close to what boating costs.

I used to live on the lake, rented a room in house for awhile ,and I noticed, a lot of the people who had houses nearby, hardly ever ran their boats. They spend all kinds of money to register them, gas them up, have the marina winterize them, then launch them in the spring, service them, and detail them, and for what? So they could spend most of the summer at the dock? These were people who had money anyways, they owned those big 33' Formula with the full cabins in them and whatnot.

Since the State of NH does not make a profit. Every dollar sent there goes somewhere. Spending is the issue.

Too many people say:
That cost too much, other people should pay more so I can pay less.

They should say:
What the hell is the goverment doing with my money.

No matter what the past time is some will always complain about the cost of registration, but they still plunk down the money needed to purchase the toy.
$53 equals $4.4166667 a month or $0.1452055 a day

You paid $53.50 to be exact. I have been registering boats for many years, working on and off at a marina on the Big Lake. I can tell you that until the increase a few seasons ago, the cost to register a boat in NH stayed stagnant for a looooong time. Perhaps the state would have been better served upping it a little here and there over that time rather than go up all at once. My understanding is that the current fees are comparable to our neighbors and IMO reasonable given the fun factor.

This is all about Taxing The Wealthiest Americans. Anyone who has property on the waterfront is Totally Wealthy and needs to be Punished....what with their fancy boats, attitudes, and What Not. Just Sayin.. NB

my reg. was exactly the same as last year. i did read somewhere...maybe it was here...that boat registrations are up like 40% this year over last???? i think that was the #...so...???? but mine did not go up
