Default Steamboat Rally Lee's Mills

I was wondering when the Steamboat Rally at Lee's Mills was scheduled, but couldn't find the info on the internet. I did find a phone number to call and found out it is this week, ending Sunday, for those who might be interested.

Was there yesterday. Bunch are there and fired up. There was a parade yesterday at I believe 2 and if I remember correctly another parade next Sunday at noon. There is also a "race" during the week. But They are there and ready to chat with you about the boats. This was the first year I went over by land and must say the captains and their families were all friendly and willing to talk to you about their boats!

We anchored near the public docks and grilled up some steaks while the steam boats were out and about on Saturday. That was fun. I love the way that end of the lake is so much different than, say, Weirs Beach. The contrast is shocking.

I stopped by 19 mile bay and grabbed some potato wedges from the deli in the store on the way. They re-heat perfectly on the grill and go great with steak. I will be doing that more often.

Default Steamboats at Mededith docks

Was heading home ~1pm yesterday. Saw 3 steamboats at Meredith docks. Thats a long haul at 6mph if putting in at Lee Mills.

Default Steam Boat's Acomin'

Recently, I heard the mellow toot of a steamboat's whistle out on the lake near Dollar Island. I went down to our dock to take a photo. The operator spotted me and came to our dock. Ken, pilot, and Dottie, first mate of the steamboat, Melvin, invited family guests and me aboard. We were treated to a great cruise around the north end of Bear Isand, around Pine Island, and back to East Bear Island. What a treat!! Thanks to Ken and Dottie whose home port is Six Mile Island.

Is this why there are a great many empty boat trailers parked just off the driveway into the Lion's Club?

The parade travels out of Lee's Mills and then travels to the end of Green's Basin. It then heads back to Lee's Mills.

Default Steamboat Melvin

The steamboat Melvin, on which we had a nice cruise [see Post #7 above], leads the parade in the top photo in Post #14 above. Wonderful memories!!!
