Akwa Marina Beachbar/Yacht Club

Anyone hear if Akwa Marina Beach Bar is going to be managed by Harts Turkey Farm again this year? What are peoples thoughts on that? Also anyone a member of the Yacht Club? How do you like it?

I would be interested in a review also, I will be a member and keeping my boat there for the first time.

I thought the food and overall management of the restaurant was WAY better in 2016 with Hart's running it. I hope they return to run it this year. I have heard 2nd or 3rd hand that they will be managing it again, but I do not have personal knowledge of that.

I have no knowledge of what it is like to be a pool club member or to keep your boat there. I will say that when you go to the restaurant by boat, it is hit-or-miss to get one of the good docking spots that are perpendicular to the beach....there aren't a lot of them and they fill up fast. If you end up on the outer dock that parallels the beach, you take your life and your boat's life in your hands with all of the wave churn that hits that outer dock.

Anyone at least know when the beach bar opens? Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner and I haven't seen or heard anything.

I spoke to someone at the Marina today who said the beach bar will be opening next Saturday (5/20/17).

We were there on Sunday 5/21. Wonderful service! The computers were down, but the crew was smiling and rolling with it. There were lots of patrons and I think the establishment was caught a bit off-guard as they were calling it a "soft opening."

We sat at the bar and had great drinks served by Russ Hart's great-grandson. The fried haddock sandwich was tasty and the smoked sushi-grade tuna was amazing and not your run-of-the-mill pub-food offering.

We'll be back.

Stopped by late this afternoon and they were closed. Sign on the dock said sorry for the inconvenience but cash only this weekend. Won't be back anytime soon.

I wasn't there this weekend, but my daughter is working there for the 3rd summer in a row and said the place was crazy busy Saturday and Sunday. Good for them. I am a big fan of the place and I hope they continue to do well!

I believe the "cash only" was their opening weekend, which was last weekend; not this Memorial Day weekend.
