M-dith M-cycle M-seum sold to Mass brewery?
Story in yesterday's Union Leader says the Police Motorcycle Museum property in Meredith, across from McDonald's was sold for $620,000 to a beer brewery in Winchester, Mass. And, the Police Motorcycle Museum is now looking for a new home in the lakes region. Not much info on how the property, formerly a famous antiques bazaar, will be used as a beer business ..... anyone have any info?
Article also mentioned the funeral home next door has moved its cremation oven to an industrial zone off Route 104 so the problems with noxious odors floating in the air would no longer be a problemo here. Say-hey .... that could maybe have been a problem for a beer hospitality business? Well ......what's that smell ..... not everything goes better with a beer?

..... a happy ending?
This maybe seems like a happy ending to the saga of the M-cycle M-zeum vs the funeral homes crematorium smokestack next door?
From memory: Before the M-cycle M-zeum purchased the 5-acres and big barn building in 2010, it was a famous antiques bazaar, open from May 1 - Oct 30. In 2010, the Meredith zoning board approved the funeral home request for a crematory oven as an accessory use with no public hearing, and all zoning board members voting yes. In 2015 the M-zeum sued the funeral home over the smelly fumes? In 2016 the Meredith Zoning Board cited the M-zeum for storing boats, and the M-zeum sued the town, winning its case in Belknap court, and boats continue to be stored in the large side lot, all wrapped up in very neat looking white covers on the large lot, down below the road. The unhappy neighbor woman, a retired registered nurse, who built a lot of protest signs and statues on her front yard, protesting the smelly crematorium directly across the road from her single family house, has unfortunately passed away, never to benefit by breathing any untainted local air what with the removal of the crematorium. You can be danged sure that she did not use the services of that funeral home! So's, considering the funeral home basically won its lawsuit in court, what prompted it to move its crematory away to a remote location despite getting the big green light from the town zoning board, and the Belknap court? If it was such an "appropriate use" ....... it did not have to move away, but apparently it has? So, a beer hospitality biz with the big Massachusetts money is buying the property with the resources to make it happen sure seems like a happy ending just because it does .....and everything goes better with a quality beer brew ....... not that mass market yellow stuff. Here's a cheer for drinking that great quality beer ..... and three big cheers for that big Massachusetts money that wants to flow into Meredith, NH ...... you will like it here ...... there's never-ever a traffic jam! ......

Interesting FLL. I am wondering if the Brewery is aware of the past lawsuits and issues at this location. This could definitely have an adverse affect on their idea for an outside deck. There is a distinct order from the funeral home when the crematorium is working. May need to rethink the outside deck.

Nothing against the funeral home as they have prevailed in their lawsuits and certainly have the right to run their business.
Although a micro brewery and pub would be a great addition to the area. I hope they are successful and can coexist. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

So on this mornings local news a brew pub in another NH town announced they are closing their doors as of this weekend.
Does This area need and will we be able to support another brew pub?? Seems like Dunkin donuts, there is one on every corner. |

If it's a brewery that bottles and sells it's beer to other markets then it could work. If they are just going to rely on the local traffic then it will be a tough sell. I just don't think there is enough going on in the winter months there to keep it afloat.

.... pizza, pizza, pizza!
Pizza has a lot of appeal ...... it tastes great ..... is very yummy .... nothing beats hot pizza on a cold NH day ...... what's not to like ......even for the many who just have a single beer every so often ...... people like to eat pizza .... that place has a great location ....high visibility, and mucho traffic .....directly across from McDonald's but a different type of food venue, plus that large old barn building is possibly a reconstruction project for a very happening food and beer go-to spot ..... seems like a welcome new food hospitality biz ...... will be easy to watch the creation redo re-design process turning a remarkable huge old chicken barn into a pizza & brew home ....... because it is so close to the road there.
Rich or poor, you is better off eat'n quality pizza and drink'n quality beer!!!

These guys need to partner with The Dive for some reciprocal marketing and cross-promotion.

All over the country there are way too many breweries. Everyone who home brews has their friends telling them to go pro but only a handful are making anything really good. They all thrived for a while as a fad but the weaker ones drop out pretty fast now.

I wish these guys the best. I know I’ll be stopping in once they open.
Seems like they are making a sizable investment. Hiring a full time brewer away from another brewery has to be setting them back. There really is no competition in the area yet. Hopefully their beers speak for themselves. I would love to see them do simple flatbread type pizzas, assuming they are done well. The Lakes Region is like a desert when it comes to good beer and good pizza. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is fantastic news and wish them the best. Know lots of people that would go and travel to a good brewpub. There is one in Tilton so it will be nice for something closer and it will be nice to have some new faces to come to town. Might bring in some younger crowd.

There is/was at least 2 brew pubs in Wolfeboro. One next to Mise en Place on Lehner St and the other on Mill St. good beers at both but they need to work on the food selections.

One in Gilford
There is another one being slowly constructed in Gilford in general vicinity of the movie theater. Not sure when it will open for business but the work is ongoing.

Twin Barns Brewing Company
Today the Laconic Daily Sun ran an article about the head brewer coming to the Twin Barns Brewing Company in Meredith. Seems he is a very experienced brewer.

.....oh yeah.....construction, or at least demolition is actually happening too....not just a lot of talk ..... they got a big green dumpster all loaded up with old parts pulled out from the insides ...... so, and this is a very serious question ...... what's the least expensive price expected to be for a 16-oz exotic beer brew ....... $1.75? ..... ya know it's just a glass of brown beer?
