Default ...Summa Humma house 4-sale!

....see it once and it sticks in your memory....the 47' Fountain "Summa Humma" boat....a purple & yellow checked big fast boat that used to roar around the lake until about 2003 or so....farewell Summa Humma...which now lives somewhere in Florida(?)

...now the lake house that used to be home to the Summa Humma boat on Gov Isl is up for sale for about 10-million dollars...and there's an excellent article in today's Concord Monitor, including a lot of interior photos, from this website's above ....www.winnipesaukee.com ...'s google newslink....so u do not need a costly cmonitor subscription to tour this $10-mil dollar home ..... possible just right for a sports super-star ..... like Serena Williams or someone.......just one question....what's the Summa Humma house Gilford tax assessment and..... of course....what's the yearly property tax bill?

...nice house...but mowing the lawn looks like a big weekly chore what with that fancy mow look?

...want a house with a better sunny location, located about 1 1/2 miles across the water to Meredith from Gov Isl and has better 270-degree views.....for just $3.2-mill....then check out ... for-sale-by-owner... 88 Cattle Landing Rd in Meredith, remodeled extensively in '98 by a Ukraine hockey player and can be toured on youtube ...."healthy family compound on lake winnipesaukee"....only 111 views....another good get-a-way for a sports super-star like Maria Sharipova or anyone with a big family!

A few hundred yards away you could own all of Eagle Island with a real nice house for only $1.2 million:

Yes but then you have to worry about boats crashing ashore in the middle of the night....

Where as no such incidents have been reported at the "Summa Humma" house......

With that said, "Summa Humma" is sold and leaves the area, the "other Summa Humma", is up for sale, and now the Mansion on Governs island is for sale.... Has business dropped that much, or is it time to go somewhere else....

www.giclub.us/ has two hard surface tennis courts very close to the beach and swimming area on the north side of the island, maybe ten house lots down from the Summa Humma house and Eagle Island ..... does purchasing Eagle Island make you eligible to use the two nearby tennis courts on Governor's Island......who knows....maybe it does......what the heck ....Eagle Island is sort of a Governor's Island satellite property......would be a short & easy kayak paddle past the multi-million dollar homes to the tennis courts...would the Eagle Island owner be able to become a GIC member and use the tennis courts?

There are some rumors floating around regarding the reason, and none of them have to do with business.

Default Really?

Asked near the end of the tour what he would emphasize to a potential buyer, Sanborn said the home’s location. The property looks across the water at a 112-acre wildlife preserve on Stonedam Island; it offers broad views of the lake; and it is protected from heavy boat traffic, he said.

I agree with overlooking Stonedam, which is nice to see shorefront unspoiled from civilization. But a broad view of the lake???? That is on the other side of the island. Protected from heavy boat traffic????, It is a virtual parade of boats on the lake side. The no wake zone, allows boats to speed up and slow down causing waerfront erosion.

It is funny how they blow all out of porportion, the location, location, location crap.

Default Ugly house too

This house is so unattractive - architecturally it looks like a hotel, always has. I agree that the boat traffic is horrid - we moved to Moultonboro from that side of the lake - getting through the water between Eagle and the Summa Humma house is always a challenge. No thanks.

I agree. I was never impressed with the look of it. Combined with the location I always thought it was a "Look at me" kind of place. I could think of a lot better ways to spend $10M.

Default Hasn't that place been for sale for years?

I think they've lowered the asking price a few $mill. A few years ago there was a "For Sale" sign on the dock. I was told a developer owned it.

The same person that built the house owns it now. It has not been owned by a developer. His father also has a home on the east side of Governor's Island that is for sale at this time.

Taxes for that property are $85,155. Other than the asking price and that...piece of cake

I agree with others the house in unattractive, probably to most people.

However thats because we view it as a house, and not as the estate of which it is...

As with most estates, it was built to humble, and awe guests at it size and luxuriousness...

Also because of its size, it sticks out like a sore thumb, with out any trees, to break it up, especially from the water

Its really no different then any Hollywood mansion......

I couldn't afford the taxes....never mind the cost to fertilize that lawn, which BTW is probably polluting the lake.

Default Never get the price

They could lower the price by half, and I think it will still be a cold day if they ever receive an offer that will be agreed upon. There are many large and small, and gracious homes on the lake, this is not one of them. Isn't this property owned by the Bourgouis family?

Maybe Britney Spears will change her mind about moving to Governors Island.

I wouldn't go so far as to say, "jealous haters," but the remarks did make me smile...thinking there might be a touch of envy. Also agree that while it's not for me, it certainly is impressive.

I have to agree. I bet none of those being critical would turn it down if gifted to them.

I don't think jealous haters is correct...

I think what is being voiced here is the fact that this is not something most of us want... As the lake is about something totally different for us... it is about escape to a more peaceful place...

Now I hope my comments haven't been misconstrued in this manor...

I personally don't have any issues with the property... it is what it is..... the designers and owners loved the end result and that is all that is important...and so will the eventual new owner...

Now lets look at cost per square foot of living spaceto really decide if this place is over priced.... 22,000 square feet and 10M$ gives us a cost of 454$ per square foot....

Now lets look at an example my camp... Roughly 600 square feet, at 454$ per square feet is 272K$ and just my land on the water appraises for close to 600K...

In Short I don't believe for all that this Mansion has to offer, it is at all over priced.... in Fact I would say the price is reasonable.... Doesn't mean we can all afford it.... Nor does it mean that any of us would want it... it just simply is what it is.....

No, they probably wouldn't. But they might sell it and buy something to their taste. I think the house is butt ugly. I'm not jealous, it's just not what I would have built if I had that kind of money. I would have gone for an Adirondack style. I do, however, like the little theater. But to say that everyone who doesn't care for it is jealous is just ridiculous.

They have already turned down an offer that is within $2 million of the asking price.

IT is quite impressive, just not for me either, not to mention with all that cost and then also having to change the whole interior to my liking it is not there for me.

Their property and should be able to do what they want with it

The town has it appraised at 4.65M... Wonder if the taxes go up if they get close to the 10M???

Most places around here are selling for under their appraised value.

I paid under town appraisal value for my place last year. The town lowered the taxes a bit, but the end town appraisal is still more than I paid.

My thoughts exactly. As much as I would love to be able to afford a $10M lake house, if I could that wouldn't be the house I would buy, even at half that price. Too showy, too in your face, not a style to my liking for a lake house.
