Thumbs up The life you save, could be your own!

Ok ...... so, what am I talking about ...... well, today in the mail, I received for $14.50, shipping included, from ebay.com ..... a C-Strobe Emergency Signaling Strobe.

It resembles a small, yellowish-green flashlight with a bulbous lens, and is powered by two AA batteries. It is waterproof, does not float, easy to switch on by twisting the top, and produces a very bright 45-lumen white, flashing light.

It comes with a six inch nylon lanyard, as well as two 1 3/4" clip/slots for attaching to a pfd webbing strap.

It looks somewhat like military swimmer equipment.

It is made in China by Xiamen Lonako Industry.

For $1.00 you can buy three AA alkaline Sunbeam batteries at the Meredith Family Dollar which work great to power up this very bright, emergency flasher light.

Whether your vessel is a 10'6" stand up paddle board, or a 47' Fountain go fast-be loud with three roaring engines, this little $14.50 flasher could help make a big emergency difference for boating in the dark.

Highly recommended as a Christmas stocking gift to yourself.

While $14.50 is not a very low price, it's a price that is doable for many small boaters such as kayaks, sups, and smaller motor boats that are a lot closer to the water than motorboats about 18' length and up. In the motorboats 18' and longer, their size, power and lighting system has more inherent safety than in smaller vessels. Boats 18' and longer are big enough so you do not experience the water with the same close-to-the-water contact as the smaller vessels.

The required white nav light plus the red-green bow lights do not always show up so good. For boating in a small vessel in the dark, or in the dusk, the flashing white led light can make the difference between being seen, or not seen, by other boats ….. especially by the larger 18'-plus boats that are higher up, and have more power. As the sun sets slowly in the west creating darkness to fall across the 21-mile long Lake Winnipesaukee, boaters have to pay extra attention to where they are going because it gets much more difficult to see ahead, as the darkness makes it all blend in together.

For a jet-ski caught out after dusk, having a C-Strobe attached to the upper top-of-shoulder on your pfd would greatly increase the jet-ski's visibility to other boaters as opposed to jet-skiing in the dark with no lights which is what happens.

A light like that MAY be illegal....I believe in small vessels only Nav and all around white is supposed to be visible. No other lights should be seen....

For $9.99 at WalMart you can get a 50 count string of battery operated Christmas lights to adorn your craft of choice. A HUGE savings of a couple of bucks!! The beauty with this setup is if one light burns out the rest of the string will remain lit!!!! (in theory, results may vary)

While your at it - please be sure to get a string with alternating green and red lights so everyone will be thoroughly confused as to which direction you're going.

For paddle vessels like stand up paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, and row boats without motors, the NH Marine Patrol would probably support with enthusiasm using one of these $14.50 C-Strobe white light led flashers as long as it has a 360-degree, all around display which means wearing it on top of your hat, or something like that.

You could lie on your back on the paddle board, and hold it in your mouth, to make it the highest light point on the vessell ...... ha-ha-ha-ho-ho-ho ...... just kidding .....

For $14.50 it makes a totally super-duper secondary light or emergency light, or a light to use when the wired navigation lights are not working. Worth the price, good design, bright white flashing light, waterproof, easy to operate, 45-lumens visible for two plus miles across the water.

A high visibility white flasher that can make all the difference ... .... the C-Strobe water rescue light.

You know the Marine Patrol is so totally enthusiastic about the C-Strobe emergency flasher light, they find it necessary to curb their enthusiasm! ...
