Talking Controversy on a welcome thread???

Leave it to GTO to start more controversy. Once a trouble maker, always a trouble maker.

Default Eagles???

I heard quite a few of them were shot down on national television about two weeks ago in Jacksonvill FL.

Nero? Nero? boy, those eyes look familiar.

Eagles fan or not, welcome again. Hey, if we let Glen Steely aboard, we'll let anyone.

Default Welcome and Thanks to all the Board's Inhabitants

Hi. Just wanted to add my welcome to the others that have sent them along. I am fairly new to the Board as well. I had occassionally viewed it when I had a place down in Barnstead, but boated on Winnipesaukee. I know have a place up in Wolfeboro and have found all the information on this Board invaluable since last May. For example, I never would have known of Pepper's incredible Lobster Rolls (more butter please ), but for this Board. I appreciate all of what you folks post, including the occassionally interesting and feisty controversies. Particular thanks go out to Island Girl and others that post such great historical information about the region. I may not post often, but I definitely read often, getting all the necessary information for either another winter weekend up the saukee or fun in the sun during boating season.

Thumbs up Welcome birder...

Nice avatar, too. Captures the "old lake" mystique.

That bird is getting even more rare -- it is "in decline" throughout its range.

A bald eagle was shot last month just over the NH line in Maine. Since it's still on the "Endangered List", I suspect a developer.

Although Canada protects them too, they're being killed in big numbers in British Columbia -- for their feathers and talons, used in Native American ceremonies or other black market purposes.

(Otherwise, no American can own any parts.)

I've seen as many as three in the air at one time over the Big Lake. The good news is that eagles are not rare around Winnipesaukee. It helps to listen -- and look up!

YES.

Sorry but it is illegal to be in possession of a Eagle "found feather". You need a permit to own the birds or parts there of. The reason is that they can't tell how you got the feather. Found or taken after killing the bird. All I can say is don't get cought with one.

Exclamation Awwwwwwwwwwk!!!!

It's a Federal felony charge, with a fine of $10,000.

If it's part of a Native American's costume, it's OK. Check your geneology.

(I also found out that it's good manners to ask first, before touching ceremonial Indian garb). http://www.blackindians.com/FactSheet.htm

Don't thrown it away...here's what to do.

Put a label on it, and mark it "Turkey Vulture". Sign and date the tag.

Then, sell it to me for 50¢
