Default Doctor Needed !

I looking to change doctors, and looking for someone who specializes in
'Internal Medicine', but rule out other such as a GP.

My current doctor was with the old LRGH, and we haven't had a really warm experience, not directly pertaining to LRGH (Concord Hospital), but the doctor.

i live in Gilford, so would like someone within the towns around the lake.

Suggestions ?

General Practioners are Internists.
All my physicians are at MassGeneral/Brigham. A distance from the lake but well worth the travel. Interesting that once when in MGH the other patient in my room was from NH. He stated that when his doctors were not able to treat him he was sent to MGH. So just go there initially, right/no?
On another note, my interest is not in a physicians personality but in his/her expertise. I do not have to like them and they do not have to like me to have a good medical outcome.

I transplanted up here last fall full time. I poked around with the same question and was told by several people to that if I like my doctor in MA keep him and just use a 24hr clinic here in a pinch if needed..............

Default Doctor not affiliated with any hospital

Dr. Misiewicz of Meredith will refer you to a number of specialists to choose from. Love it! He is honest fair, and very thorough.

FYI.... my issues were more than 'personality', it was in their procedures and
recommendations, which were contradictory to a second medical opinion. and others.

Default Mgh

I too will second MGH and the Brigham. Yes long drive but figure my health is worth it. Boston offers some of the best medical care in the world and for a 2-hour drive it more than worth the extra hassle.

My wife and I each had an internal medicine PCP associated with LRGH up until 1 ½ years ago. After my wife had a series of bad experiences with LRGH and associated specialists (and then on the suggestion of her Laconia PCP), she went to the Concord Hosp ER. She finally got a diagnosis and proper treatment in Concord. We both now have primary care physicians at Concord Hospital Internal Medicine. While it is a longer drive, we both feel that it is worth it. While Concord Hosp now manages the hospital in Laconia, it will take a long time to change the culture.

If you don't like the long drive to Mass General or the Brigham then do consider Lahey Hospital on Route 95 (Route 128) in Burlington, Massachusetts. Burlington is far easier to reach than Boston with far fewer traffic headaches.

Lahey Hospital is now owned and operated by Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston and they do provide excellent medical care and offer all the latest medical technologies. In fact, their Burlington facility is so large it has its own dedicated zip code (01805).

I haven't been to the lakes region for awhile so my knowledge of local goings on is a bit sketchy, but I think I recall reading that someone bought LRGH, I think it was a Concord hospital?

If so, might that not help revitalize LRGH and save the seemingly sinking ship?

Surely things must have improved, at least a little bit?

I have been pretty happy with Steve Fleet, MD at Huggins Internal Medicine in Wolfeboro. A friend of mine has been his patient for over 20 years.

It's Wentworth Douglass in Dover, and yes it is affiliated with MGH, part of Partners Healthcare.

There are some great doctors down here. My house in Dover to my slip in Gilford is only 50 minutes, so its not a bad ride either way to find quality healthcare.

Yes, you are right of course. I was thinking of the Seacoast Cancer Center within Wentworth Douglass. Duh.
