Default Lake Wickwas sunset

I've seen it spelled, Wicwas and Wickwas, not sure which is correct. Anyway, looking for somewhere that was not Winnipesaukee to take some sunsets, I ran across this spot.

This lake was very calm, so unlike Winni, it was great for reflection type pictures.

Default Lots of references to Lake Wickwas in NH also

I saw that site but...

The reason I didn't know was the fact that it is listed in lot's of places as Lake Wickwas.. including Google Maps as posted here..

http://findlakes.com/wickwas_lake_ne...re~nh00124.htm and Google Maps clearly labels the body of water Lake Wickwas. Strange.

Also a Google search for Lake Wickwas comes up a bunch of sites.

Default No K

If you look at the sign on the road it is spelled without the K

My DeLorme atlas has it with a K as does Google maps and Google Earth. Also,a list of NH lakes in Wikipedia spells it with a k.NH Fish and Game spells it with a k.And finally, the state of Nh website shows a map for the lakes region with it spelled with a k.I'll go with Wickwas.

Seriously! That is just such a beautiful photo. I would have had to stop too for a photo opp if I had seen it. How did you find this spot? Sometimes we set the GPS on the dash and just drive...it often brings us to the most beautiful places.

My wife and I were taking the back road from Gilford to Rt. 104 and happened by the spot. I thought it might be a good sunset spot so I went back over that evening to check it out. It was a good spot.
The only problem is a set of power lines that cut right through the center of the shot.. but with a little photoshop magic they didn't make the final edit.
You can actually see the line (wires) in the satellite shot on the left part of the frame. (Gotta love Google Earth!) From the pin in the map, the sunset was WNW. The closest landmark is the large cemetery you see just above the pin. Also be careful, parking is a bit hairy with a very small shoulder on that part of the road, when I try that spot again, I'll park at the cemetery and walk across Meredith Center Rd to the spot that I placed the pin.

I thought your shots were taken on Chemung Rd not far from the boat launch.
