Question New April 23 pond ice, overnight

Corcorans Pond, Waterville Valley, a 7-acre resort pond, created in the early 1980's by building a dam on Snows Brook went from 7-acres of open water to about 50/50, 3.5-acres of newly made skim ice overnight on April 23, 2024.

Located about 35-miles north of Lake Winnipesaukee, at an elevation of about 1850', with depths of 10' deep ..... I was surprised to see the new ice this morning as I took an early morning walk.

The local natural snow cover is something like 99.5% gone, but it got cold enough to grow new pond ice, last night? ......
