Clock Repair

Does anyone in the Lakes Region repair clocks. Mantle chime clocks or grandfather clocks?

I think there is a guy on Rt. 109 in Moultonborough , not too far up from Rt. 25

I don't know the name of the company but there is a clock repair shop with a unique sign made up of oversized clock gears across the side street from the VIP auto parts store in Laconia on Union Ave.

There's a clock repair fellow in Moultonboro on Rt.109 not too far from Buckeys.
He has a shop in the barn behind his house. He's an interesting, helpful guy, and a big collector of old clocks. He did some work for us and was very reasonable.
I will try to find his name for you.

Yes that is a clock repair shop so called.

About 15 years ago +/- I brought in two old clocks: A Gilbert gingerbread (Winsted, CT) and a Seth Thomas mantel chime clock (Thomaston, CT). The Gilbert needed careful cleaning to be able to operate more than a few min. The Seth Thomas needed synchronization of the chimes and a key.

The clocks were there for quite a long time however the repairs did not pan out and a key for the Seth was never delivered. Sadly the two clocks have not run since.

Now maybe it was a lack of experience with the specific clocks, I don't know. I do know that I was not happy with the outcome.

I was working in Laconia back then, and as I remember it, that was about the time period the old owner passed away.

the original Owner 'Spider' was a Golden Glove boxer and well known cook at Paul's aka Shore aka Dearborn's Diner on Union Ave. Where the old BK is now.

His son Ken took over the business and he is just as good as his father.

I highly recommend the Osgoods.

My opinion is you need a very good clock technician to repair a very good clock. Depending on the brand of your clock, I would either use Chelsea Clock in Chelsea, Ma or the Boston Clock and Watch repair in the jewelers section of Boston on Washington St, roughly #350.

Chelsea would be my first choice, if they repair your make of clock. They list what makes they repair on their web site, They usually take 4 to 8 weeks to turn it around as they are often very busy.

The place on Washington Street might be faster, but they are a cash only business, so you have to return for pick-up. Chelsea will give you an estimate when you drop the clock off and return the clock to you via UPS. Therefore, only one trip to Boston.
