Default Vacuum Cleaners

Hubby's family cabin needs a new vacuum cleaner, pronto (last one burned up, literally). What brand/model is strong enough to suck up pine needles, sand, granite grit from outside, whatever we drag in? Thanks in advance!

My mother's old Electrolux. Strongest suction I ever found, beats the Dyson any day!

Also my Shop Vac does a damn good job.

Picked up an upright vacuum cleaner at Walmart for $24.00 on Black Friday. Been using it for 4 years now.

This $24.00 vacuum cleaner sucks just like any Kirby.

We've got a Miele that is the best Vac we've ever had. The suction is great. The head swivels in ways you can't believe and the quality is outstanding.

I have had a Bissell Cleanview at my NH house for quite a while. It's amazing a picking up everything we drag in. For $80 or so, can't beat it. I have a Dyson 'ball' at home and to be honest, it's a little, too. sensitive! The Bissell is a tough, vac...

Default Hoover S2220 Bagless Stick Vacuum

Consumer Reports recently reviewed lightweight "stick" vacuums and rated the "Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle, S2220" at the top as a best buy at $60.

I bought one for our camp and it's great! Lightweight and great pick-up. It's bagless, so you dump out the contents after each vacuum -- easy to do, no bags to buy.

BUT...

it sold out quickly on Amazon and elsewhere. If you can find it, the price is over $90!

(We used to use a shop-vac, but there were complaints about ease-of-use and noise.)

We have 3 cats and multiple dog visits during the summer. For the money, the Shark Navigator Liftaway vacuum has done a fantastic job. Watch the informercial but buy it from Amazon. You can read the reviews and compare to Dyson. I believe we paid $149. Shipping included.
