Default Gimbal bearing pulling tool

I want to change the gimbal bearing in my OMC Cobra drive. Does anyone have a bearing pulling tool they'd be willing to lend me for a day?

Is this tool you need anything like an automotive bearing puller ?

If it is, you might be able to get it at an "Auto Zone" for no charge, meaning they will charge you for it, then let you return it when you are finished with it for an absolutely full refund with no hassle.

Have had a couple of very good experiences with them getting special tools from them that I did not want to purchase for those once in a lifetime pain in the ass jobs. On one occasion they took a brand new one right off the shelf, let me use it for a few days, took it back with the sales slip for a full refund.

More often than not they sell you used ones of these special tools for this type of thing knowing that you will be returning it, but have never had any problems returning them as long as you bring everything back.

If it is really something special from OMC, maybe someone else can help, just a suggestion.

If you do try Auto Zone consider taking the part with you, they might have something, if they can see the actual part you are trying to fix.

Sorry, mine is for a Mercruiser Alpha Drive.

I bought it on Ebay. Maybe you can find one there?

8gv, I think the I/O gimbal bearing tools work with Mercruiser, Volvo and OMC drives, especially if you bought it from Heartland Products. Could I give yours a try? I'll PM you with my contact information.

I recommend a slide hammer rather than a threaded puller. You'll need an installation tool too.
