Default Sledding in Alton

I was just curious if there are any places to bring kids sledding in the Alton area. Someplace not on private property. I know its still early but I'd like to make plans.
Thanks

There's a great hill just off to the side on route 28, like you were headed to Barnstead, that's just behind the new summer theater place (the name of it escapes me now - it used to be a takeout restaurant - it's a green building)... Anyhow - it's a killer hill and my kid went with my nephew (he's 19) and they had a BLAST... it's THE place to go, I guess....

I've wondered if the hill by the Catholic church was available to sledding... it's temping... (I love love love to go sledding!)

Thanks for the response. I'll definitely check that out. I always wondered about the church hill too. I said for the kids in my post but I think I really meant me. (46 years old)
