Default The old vs. the new

It looks like my old hometown - Phila. PA will be battling my new home - New England ! How totally cool is that. I spoke to my sister and informed her that the Pats will be kickin' the "Iggles' " butts!

Woooooo HOOOOOOOOO!

Default It sure is funny......

Everytime I post a thread about sports, it gets bumped......what about freedom of speech? I thought New Hampshire was the live free or die state. I am beginning to think my threads are not welcome here, is it because I am not a local? Congratulations Patriots fans.......and......welcome to the terror dome....it should be a good game, but my money is on the E.A.G.L.E.S......EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Technically the forum isn’t supposed to have politics or sports. People get more than a bit passionate about both. Besides, you’re an Eagle’s fan!
New England is our team, and they rule!

Yeah Glennsteely,

I tried to comment on the game last week and it got bumped, then I reread the FAQs. Not complaining though. The rules are why this is a great forum, the rules keep it clean and focussed. Sports, politics and bike week discussions can get ugly quick if not for our webmaster...

Go pats......

I love New Hampshire, so my second favorite team is the Patriots, but sorry, gotta root for the hometown on this one. Plus, you already got a championship this year with the Red Sox. Don't be greedy, now. Spread the wealth.

In keeping with the “Forum rules”,,,

Is there a good sports bar in the Wolfboro area where a person living in, going to, dreaming of being at Lake Winnipesaukee” can go and see the PATS beat the Eagles??

Sorry Don, just had to do it.

Don't get me wrong, no one is a bigger Patriots and Red Sox fan than me. It's just that this forum has always been completely dedicated to the Lake Region and I prefer to keep it that way. When I've taken polls and asked if I should allow politics or other unrelated issues in the answer has always been a resounding NO.

The way I've handled it over the past few years is to allow a single thread when the teams get to or win the championship. I'll let this thread go so please limit Patriots talk to this thread.

ToW has found the perfect way to connect the Superbowl to the Lakes Region. Information about places in the Lakes Region to watch the game or attend a Super Bowl party are certainly relevant and allowable.

OK here's one that should relate. How many of you have seen or know of Pats, Sox, coachedor players who have places at the lake or have seen any of them up here. I used to see Charlie Weiss(sp?) all the time at Heath's in Ctr. Harbor but haven't the last few summers.

Sorry I only know of the Jets Athletic Director being at the lake all summer until early August. I have seen his boat.

A Bruins player had a place on Rattlesnake many years ago but I cannot remember his name.

There has to be one or two current New England sports people on the lake.

Thanks Don for your "exemption" this year...Seems kinda special with the Sox and the Pats lining up to be champs the same year. And I do agree with past polls...that's what makes this forum so great and focused. But..........go Pats!!!!!!

Default Bruin near Rum Pt.

There's a Bruin (former), whose name escapes me at the moment, who has a place over by Rum Pt. Scott from Dive Winni pointed it out last summer.

Now this is going to bug me until I remember who it is (which will certainly occur @ 3 AM).

Lots of Eagles sighted around the Lake, judging from posts to the forum. This is a good thing. A very good thing. I love Eagles. And I consider myself a Patriot. This does not make me schizo...

Chris, Upthesaukee, How quickly we forget! :-) It's already been done. That was last year! 2004 - Pat's win Super Bowl in February. Sox win Series in October. Now we're just setting up for a repeat in 2005!

We watched most of the Sox games and playoffs at the lake with friend and neighors. Perhaps we'll need to go to one of those Lakes Region bars to watch the Super Bowl. (one for Don)

Go Pats!

Angry I have read the rules......

BUT, I see other people do it and it is ok, I do it and bump time! It just seems a little partial, borderline discrimination even. I guess its a New Jersey thing, and I am from New Jersey, and I am an EAGLES fan, for life, and I guess that makes me a low life on this forum......but, I am sorry to say, the only rings you are going to see from this game are the bells that Brady is going to be hearing when Brian Dawkins puts the mash on him in the pocket, he wont be seeing rings, but hearing them, what he will be seeing is little birdies.....oh, would they be EAGLES? Or, maybe he will be seeing stars.....there are enough pro-bowl players in our secondary for him to be seeing stars, everywhere he looks......there, I have said my say, and really, I just hope for a good, clean game of football, where no one gets hurt, that we can all enjoy.

I love you guys, and I wish the pats the best of luck, but I still hope we win.............Glenn

Go Eagles!

You can't be serious. I can't beleive glensteely beleives what he is saying. The Eagles are going to stomp on the Defending Superbowl champs who have 1: Just humiliated the best offensive team in the league and 2: just blew out the best defense in the league. They can beat you any way you play.On the other hand,Philly has played a very weak NFC and the in the playoffs have beaten two pretty average teams.Lastly,by the way the Eagles were celebrating, they won their Superbowl last week. Can you say DYNASTY!!!

Default I Can Say Die Nasty, If That Is What You Mean....

DYNASTY IS THE COWBOYS IN THE 90'S I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT YOU GUYS ARE NOT THERE YET!!!!! I am also sorry to say that the rings they will be comparing before the superbowl will be ring tones on nokia phones......you will see, my friends.......when Brady takes that first hit, when one of our squad gets through that weak and undersized offensive line of yours, and I say one because you never know who it will be, Dawkins, Trotter, maybe The Freak.....M. Lewis, Dhani Jones......it comes from everywhere, all angles, every cleat hole in the field will have an Eagle popping up, looking at Brady, ready to clean his clock and make him hear his own version of AC/DC's Hell's Bells. Not in our house is your teams motto, but we are not playing in your house, and even though we are meeting in Florida, I am sorry to say.....it is our turn. We will beat the Pats and when we do, expect to never hear the end of it from me.

By the way, the colts, while having their strong points, were not the best offensive team this year, in stats, maybe, but you know, if you know anything about football that if they were the best....they would be there....Same thing for the steelers, the best defense? Get real. stats again I guess, numbers do lie and lie often, they couldnt make it in the play offs with a rookie qb, even if he is the best rookie qb to come out of the draft in a long time, it is too much pressure for a guy with no experience in the big games.....Brady is a target for Jim Johnson and the boys.....we will show you the best defense in the nfl, your teams so called die nasty is suspect brother. Glenn

glennsteely,

You got a mouse in your pocket???

Don't give me this 12th fan in the stand stuff, the field is basically neutral. What position do you play? Can’t wait to see you on the field.

But you are an Eagles fan and that’s good with me.

As I sit in the sports bar in wolfboro watching the PATS beat the Eagles I’ll be looking for you to make the play of the game.

Thanks for the laugh. Here I was coming to work 2'nd shift, facing a snowstorm to drive home in next AM and then there was your post to lighten my day. Your talent for balderdash is refreshing, bravo, well done ! I'm disheartened to see you so sorry but then again what else could be expected, you're rooting for the wrong team. As for the dynasty bit you are correct but the operative word is yet. Dynasty now .... no; after this SuperBowl ... yes.

Default Dynasty...Appropriate IF...

If the Pats win this year, and on paper they should, then they've officially earned the "dynasty" label.

And I say this as a lifelong Eagles fan.

However, Pats fans and fellow Lakelovers, keep in mind that the Pats started this "dynasty run" by entering their first Super Bowl as a 14 point underdog.

And, as we know, when it's a single game, anything can (and often does) happen.

Just my $.02...your mileage may vary. My last comments on Pats/Iggles.

Go Red Sox.

Default well, I just voted, so now there is 2.....

Well lets play reply time, you guys are right, I live for this stuff, and there is no one who does it better than me, I love to talk trash, right up in your face trash about sports.....FOOTBALL!!! This is my favorite time of year, the time when the weak get weaker and the strong get stronger......the play offs.....and you guys have to realize, I have been waiting for this since 1980. Not to change my tune, but I dont want anyone catching feelings about my comments, I am just trying to start &$&# and have a little fun. As for the WE comment, no I dont play for the team, I couldnt fit in the salary cap this year, with the addition of T.O. and all......hahaha!

So, back to the game at hand.....save your tears and tissues, for the upset game of the year, and as cold as its been up there...you might want to get some ice melt to keep your lips from freezing to your face........crying the blues will be an understatement, in this game of games....from defense to defense, goal post to goal post, from the lakes region to the sunny beaches of calif for ni a, the whole world will hear your cries of shame, just slightly louder than Brady's cries of pain........

Cowboys were a dynasty in the 90's? Well, lets think about this a minute. When the Patriots broke the record for the most consecutive wins (over twenty) it was what, a thirty something year old record? The math just doesn't figure 2004 minus 1990???? Stats being what they may you just do not accomplish what this team has riding on luck. This win streak by the way was accomplished with a constant two (or three) starters out for many of the games.

Oh, and the head coaches appearing in the superbowl? Lets not even go there! The eagles personal can't even carry the Pats towels.

Call me foolish but I'm calling it a blowout - two touchdowns at least, no three point game this year. Need I say who my monies on?

Talking GlennSteely your tag line says it all!

Hey all! this is my first post. And in the spirit of smash mouth football and playfull trash talking, I must say Glenn, your tag line says it all! I think you stopped to think and forgot to start again! If you seriously believe the Eagles have a chance to win the big game you are out of your mind. Now I know it's football and ANYTHING can happen, but something will have to go horribly wrong for the Pats to lose this game. Donovan took 4 NFC Championship games to actually advance. He IS Great! BUT, the Pats have a few things tiping the scales in their favor. 1) A Far superior coach 2) Experience 3) Better Offense 4) A good defense (not better than Philly, but enough to Slow the Eagle attack).

Also, keep in mind in successive weeks that Pats managed to humiliate the BEST offense in the NFL and the BEST defense in the NFL.

Finally, regarding for T.O.'s possible active status, don't fall for it. it's a smoke screen.

Other than that, SEE YOU ON THE ICE! Heading up to scout out for the derby this weekend!

Default GREEN with Envy...

Glenn, my Philly-Lake brother, I'm here with ya!

Latest G2 is that the Myerson statement was strictly CYA and the Fat Man will make the ultimate decision regarding TO's play/no-play -- which will come down to two issues: 1) can he cut and run; and 2) will his presence *hurt* the offense? Plain and simple. His agent was at NovaCare yesterday after they returned from Baltimore, and the only reason for that is for a discussion re: what if he re-injures it? Can't be contract-related, as he's on the hook for another year guaranteed and another 1-2 optional beyond. Regardless, we have two great pre-Bowl drama news stories here now -- Thomason from a Toll Bros. construction site to the end zone in J'ville, and TO's leg.

Okay, now I've broken my own vow to steer clear of any more Bowl talk.

So, how's the ice on the Lake? How deep's the snow??

Default Umm. . .

I seem to miss the lake, whether its GOing to Wolfeboro, where I like to PAT my dog becuaSe she is so SUPER! She really enjoys drinking the lake water from a makeshift BOWL that was once a margerine container! She will always be my CHAMP. Can't wait to see the lake in 2005!

LOL!

Default Something For Everyone.......

upthesaukee......call it the Eagles defense, in all 4 corners of the field, constantly on the move, like tigers, stalking their prey (Brady)

DPG......a dynasty, or as I like to call it a die nasty, I believe is defined by a team winning 3 or more bowls in a decade, at least 2 of them being consecutive, it has nothing to do with winning streaks during the regular season, and I am here to tell you, you wont win that die nasty title in a game with the Eagles......

I AM SAM...SAMIAM......word on the street is, Donovan M. is having his hair braided in the shape of the old patriots helmet logo in honor of a great team that got so close, but still so far......

Flag.....first lets start with welcome to the forum.......second where are you from and what are your ties to the lake? You look like you are lost, if this was your first post, it looks like you were looking for www.ONE CRAZY FAN.com's forum. you are definately CRAZY to say New England has a far superior coach. Andy Reid is one of the greatest coaches ever to grace the game.....I am not worried about T.O. playing or not playing......Superbowls are won by defensive strategy, and that alone. Look at the raiders a few years ago, super high powered offense, No, and I mean NO defense......a trademark of the afc. The Pats weaknesses will be exposed in Jacksonville....and your dreams will have a final resting place.......Peace brother.
And by the way...that signature was a bumper sticker I saw at the lake, on a car with New Hampshire tags and guess what else.....A Patriots sticker in the back window......

Grant, great to hear from you and thanks for getting involved......you can see I am holding my own with these rabid Patriots fans......I love New England, just look at how passionate the people are....I already got the low down on T.O. and I think he will play, not many reps though......I dont think it matters much though, the EAGLES are playing on emotion and playing well....I am very proud of the hometeam and my confidence is HIGH and will remain so,even through these unfounded and undeserved attacks on my totally innocent self.......HAHAHA!!! Talk trash until the end!

and finally.....KTO a TKO for the Eagles win over the Patriots 35-17. THE other day I was putting a PAT of butter on my potatoeS, when my wife asked me, WILL you pass the sour cream? i said yes but dont LOOSE your will for your diet...AND she replied, YOU too, now WILL you please pass it over here before i start to CRY.......

Default T.H.E. Binz....

I admire your spirit.....now we have 5 votes......it will take a while but they will come around.....maybe T.O.'s next planned touchdown celebration dance will seal the deal.......Touchdown! Terrell Owens! as he goes to the goal post and pulls out his handy dandy electric screwdriver and mocks the Pats with an act of dancing while tightining the screws in his foot.......I think I will send that one in to the T.O. website......HAHA!!!!!!!

Exclamation A possible idea...

I have seen on other forums that have a particular theme may have a special board devoted to random talk that doesn't belong on the forum. I think it would be a good idea because there are always people wanting to start things such as sports, and if you don't want it on the lake boards, possibly created a board where you can talk about anything, that way it won't take up the boards relating to the lake. Oh well, just an idea!

That idea was discussed in this thread and almost everyone that responded was against it.

Default I am againt it also.....

Ithink the people are right, and if the Eagles were not going to the superbowl I wouldnt even be posting this stuff, or if the Pats were not going I wouldnt be here either. I like the idea of this one time thing, and it is only because an area team has made it big. (your area) I dont think there is room for an all trash talking area on this forum, it is not what this site is all about. If we are voting now, I vote nay.....but please leave this thread until the Eagles or Patriots win this thing so we can have a little more fun while some fans are eating their extra large slices of humble pie......(you guys)

Talking Post game dessert

Pie ... pie you say. I like pie. I've eaten pie but the only pie I'll be eating that Sunday is pizza pie, prefferably extra large slices from Guiseppe's. Now if I were you I'd be more concerned about your own after game dessert. Hmmm what would be appropriate with the Eagles defeat ? May I suggest something from the avian food group, order Passiformes, family Corvidae. Perhaps some corvus brachyrhynchos. Yeah that would be the ticket ! I don't know where you can find this dish in your area (I suspect a lot of places come Superbowl Sunday) so I would be happy to prepare and send it to you. Just let me know how you like your crow cooked; would it be rare, medium or well done ?

Lightbulb And then there were 6.......

We are still holding our own here.......We are all about the underdog slot, us EAGLES fans that is......Our numbers have increased to 6, now that is what I call progress. The funny thing is, down here you couldnt buy a Patriots fan.......hmmm, but I have found at least 3 Eagles fans in New England territory (Grant and myself excluded) We live down here.......I dont know what is wrong with Cal, I am sure he is not a Pats fan, he just sounds a little frustrated with the EAGLES last few years.......He is a local in the EAGLES neck of the woods......or should I say, neck of the "used to be woods now over built and overpopulated area"........and by the way, I will eat my crow rare, if it comes to that. My question is, how would you like your cheesesteak, fried onions and cheese wiz? American, mayo and ketsup? Would anyone out there like to wager: a Philadelphia Cheesesteak on my part, from Jim's Steaks, on third and South. Shipped with the roll on the side on dry ice to anywhere in New England? What I want as a return wager is a Lobster roll from Waldo Peppers, Shipped (The same way) to my home in New Jersey. This should be interesting.
Just let me know, I will only take one taker......and I think there is a "lobster season" right? So we will have to set a date for shipments.....This could be a big forum event.......Cheesesteak / Lobster roll day. Cheesesteaks are never out of season.........HEY PEPPER......being from the Philly area, and owning Waldo peppers, do you make a "REAL" Philly cheesesteak up there? Everyone says they do, but I have never found anything close up there......Do you know Jim's steaks? How about Tony Luke's on oregon ave? I have never had the pleasure of going to your establishment, I saw it this summer, saw the plane as we rode by, but didnt know what it was......I have heard many good things though, and I will be there next year......we will have to talk.

Ok Pats fans...any takers? Humble pie anyone? Fumble pie Mr. Brady? How about some Stumble pie for the backs? Or bumble pie for the staff? Or crumble pie for the so called "die nasty" Mumble pie, for the media?

Until then fellow football and Lakelovers.....Stay warm. Glenn.

Since the whole thread is against the regulations, I guess it won't hurt to stay for a few more minutes, so ...

You'll have to choose - Traditional Style, or Hot with Drawn Butter!

As close as it will ever get, anywhere! Shredded on the grille like Jim's does, with your choice of American, Provolone or Whiz. Now if only I could get the Amoroso's rolls, it would be PERFECT!

Had me rolling on the floor - Priceless!
Now if only I could get my hands on some Scrapple, some Jelly Krimpets, a Federal Street Pretzel, and some Black Cherry Wishniak, I might just feel so overwhelmed that I'd root for both teams!

Can't say I'm familiar with this, but I sure am curious! Is it similar to my beloved Scrapple?

Oh, how I long for a trip to Nifty Fifties for some Scrapple, and Eggs over-medium, with some REAL hash browns and homemade toast and fresh-squeezed orange juice!

Daggone it I'm hungry as a bear in spring now!

Default A Good Valentine Gift For Yourself?

Not that I want to encourage you to root for the other team, but you can have all your items shipped to the you in the Lakes Region.

I think you can that Stuart’s Wishniak Black Cherry soda around here or at The Beverage Network

Just what is scrapple? The Culinary Sleuth will answer that.

You can get it at The Vermont Country Store or Arnold's Meats

Tastykake Jelly Krimpets

Or better yet, get everything here at Philly Food
Thanks for the education Pepper! Now I'm hungry too.

Default Philly Artery-Cloggers

Scrapple: Phenomenal stuff, but you don't want to know. Had some just yesterday morning for breakfast at Otto's brauhaus in Horsham.

Cheesesteak: Glennsteely...shame on you...Geno's, man! Blows Jim's and Pat's out of the proverbial water. I still love the story about John Kerry visiting and when asked if he wanted cheese on his steak, he replied, "yes, Swiss." Sorry, dude, they only come with 'merican or WIZ!

I'm gonna order a couple of 2-ft. Wawa hoagies and wash 'em down with some cold Yuengling Lager (just "lager" for the locals) next Sunday.

Now -- back to the Lake -- Will the Pats in the Bowl impact the fishing derby? Prolly not, seeing as the game is 6 pm Sunday. The perfect post-derby pastime! Wish I was gonna be up there for it.

Default Now we are talking.....

Pepper, I will be happy to ship you any of the items on your wish list...if you choose, and RG, the black cherry she is talking about is not Stewarts, it is canada dry, am I correct? Tastykakes are a philly thing, went to S. Carolina to visit some friends and that was the only request, "bring lots of tastykakes"........Grant, I dont care for Gino's or Pat's, just something about meat being sliced, instead of shredded on the grill......I dont think I should answer the scrapple question, hmmm, lets just say it tastes very, very good, and it will continue to taste good.......the less you know about what is in it. Pepper, Tony's is one of the best spots in the city for roast pork, roast beef, or chicken italiano (chicken cutlet on a long roll, with roasted peppers, broccoli rabe, and sharp provolone) a mean, but extremely tasty sandwich......it is right up the block from the oregon ave diner...you have to know where that is, the place that the line is around the corner on Sunday morning for sticky buns.....wow pepper, I wish I knew you were from the area sooner....we can talk about alot....we have something in common....food.....you like to make it, and I like to eat it!!!! Well, I am on my way to Dave and Busters...in Philly, right now, and I will be popping in Jim's for a steak later this evening, but I cant leave without some trash, so ......GO EAGLES !!!!!!

No takers on my friendly wager? Put your Lobster rolls and next day shipping where your mouth is.......so I can put my mouth on a tasty treat.......and Pepper, if I get a taker, it would be a traditional....Thanks. Glenn.

Default I'll be there again soon

Well, RG, your links are fabulous, BUT...

That Scrapple IN A CAN from the Vermont Country store is just plain SCARY! Real Scrapple comes in a loaf - and when I go back to Philly in February, I'm gonna bring back a ton of it, so I'll bring some for you to try. You're going to have to come to my place for it, though, because if it isn't cooked right, it's disgusting. Gotta teach you how to cook it first!

Glenn - the Black Cherry Wishniak from Canada Dry is not bad, but it's still no comparison to the ORIGINAL - from Frank's. Best in a glass bottle, ice cold - Oh, yeahhhhhhhhhhh! Haven't tried the Stewarts, but I'm sure it still won't be like the original.

Grant, Waldo and I went with one of my brothers to Geno's on Christmas night - because Jim's was closed. I really wanted him to experience a true "Philly" cheesesteak. He was very unimpressed and insists ours is better. It's all in the shredding! But of course part of the "experience" is to be outside on the street, watching the people and the cars and just experiencing the whole "Neighborhood" - you and Glenn know what I'm talking about there. That part is the only thing I'll never be able to replicate up here!!!!!!!!

Next visit home in February, we're going to the Mummers museum!!!!!!!!! Federal Street Pretzels is just a short trip from there, and I'll be gorging myself, and bringing some home to freeze!

Pepper, sorry for the slow response. I appologize but apparently panhaus is simply another word for scrapple. I was under the impression that it was a lower grade of scrapple (what's left over once that scrapple has been made) but my father explained that it is just the PA Dutch's word for scrapple. Anyway, my appologies. I'de be happy to bring you some scrapple next time I come. I apparently do not know quite as much about the PA Dutch tradition as I thought I did. BUT... I must ask, are you familiar with Hogmaw. If you are not, you will most likely be disgusted. But it is a PA Dutch dish that is sausage and different meat products mixed with cut up potatoes and baked inside the casing of a pig stomach. Now I know, it sounds absolutely appalling but it is actually quite good. Many of my friends in college could not believe that people where I live actually eat it but it's actually pretty common. Sorry if I grossed anyone out. Hope everyone had a good weekend

How far off topic can we get in a thread that we aren't supposed to do, but we are allowed to do 'cause of the situation, and the scrapple and stuff will probably end up as part of a bet on the game settlement, so we really didn't get that far off topic, that is if you (we) really use our scrapples and think about it!!!!

Default Nice bob house......BUT.....

That is kind of cheezy, dont you think? I will have to get a few pictures of signs around here to show you how TRUE fans of the EAGLES do it. Grant or Cal.....I was in Philly Sat. night and Sun. night and didnt see the psfs building showing their support.....do you know what I am talking about? There are quite a few cool shows being put on around our way.......did either of you see the new exit on rt. 42 in Deptford? The fresh embankment for the new exit was a huge (100 feet or so long) "GO EAGLES" banner......(now snow covered).

Officially, The countdown is on.....6 1/2 days till the sweet smell of FROZEN TEARS overpowers the smell of pine trees and woodburning stoves, all over New England........GO EAGLES!!!!!!

Call me the cheesesteak bookie, still waiting on a bet.......Glenn

Sure, the heart says the Birds. The brain, however...

Anyway...things to contemplate: Eagles vs. 3-4 defense = scary. But if they don't cough up the ball, they can certainly win it. Lots of stupid drive-killing penalties this season. Can't have any of that in the big game. Not worried about the Eagles' D vs. Pats O...But the 3-4 has me concerned. Eagles are 9-0 after two weeks' rest. Pats are in their third bowl in four years. Too many intangibles.

How's the ice?

Angry Bummed out Adelphia customer

I checked out TVGuide.com last week and saw that FOX had the game offered in HD on channel 725 on Adelphia in the Moultonboro area. I just went out and splurged on a new LCD TV for a party I'm having. Called up and got HD installed from Adelphia. I guess I should have checked the channel lineup on Adelphia's web site first because it appears now that they don't offer FOXHD up here after all. They carry ABCHD, NBCHD, and CBSHD, but no FOXHD.

I'd rather be ice fishing or snowmobiling instead of having to explain to my 6 year old what a "wardrobe malfuntion" is.

Default Look at the Schedule

For all you Eagles fans, look at their schedule. Who have they beat this year? They played in the weekest division in years. So they beat the Giants (twice), Vikings (twice), Ravens, Lions, Bears, Panthers, Browns, Dallas, and the Redskins (also twice). Most of those teams didn't even finish the year at 500, in fact, most won 6 or less games this year. They lost to St Louis, Cincinnatti and Pittsburg, all teams at 500 or above. Nothing aginst the Eagles but if they were in the AFC, they also might be 500. Not as if they played Indy, Buffalo, NY Jets, Broncos, Jaguars or the Chargers. Hope it's at least a close game.

Default NOW THERE ARE 9......AND ONLY 5 1/2 DAYS LEFT TILL "ICE OUT" FOR THE PATS.....

HEY, NON VOTING TAXPAYER......FOUL!!!! The losses to the Rams and Bengals were in "who cares" games. Pittsburg just whooped us, good day for them, bad one for us......If you want to comment on football, just make sure you get it right.......In the game with the Rams, they score first and we march right back and score on a 89 yard, 3 play drive.....with the starters in. That is the last time you see them until the divisional play-off game vs. the Vikings. The whole time, I am calling the fat man (Andy "cheesesteak" Reid) every name in the book for starting them. Why take a chance with the starters, when the game means nothing and we have a serious chance for a superbowl at stake......I was very happy with his decision to take everyone out and give up those 2 games. Yes, I will admit the NFC was weak this year, but the EAGLES stood out by so much in the league.......they werent just the #1 seed, they were absolutely dominating, in all aspects of the word......the offense was strong and pretty consistant all year and the defense improved in all of the last 10 games (stats) Last year, we had what the experts called the 2nd hardest schedule in football....they wound up 12 and 4 in the regular season.....what could get worse in this football team? We stood only to get better this year, with the long term contracts, draft picks and, of course the addition of T.O. who without a doubt, is one of the best recievers to ever play the game......how is it that this year we are so under rated? It is time for everyone to respect Philly as a team that has come so far as to be the team that has the best chance of beating your beloved Pats.....And beat them, they will.......T.O. T.O. T.O. T.O. T.O.!!!!!!!

Default That's why the play the game

You may be right. That's why they play the game. We from New England know how the lack of respect feels. Even after two super bowl wins, people are finally starting to think they are for real.

How in the world is Glenstelly ever going to eat all the crow he is dishing out.I'll bet even his mouth isn't big enough to swallow the amount of trash talking he has done.He represents everything the Patriots don't have on their team and never will. That's why they are winners.Unfortuanatly for the Eagles they have boneheads on their team that run their mouths and hurt themselves by adding more fuel to an already potent bonfire called the New England Patriots.Glenstelly's supposed "Best receiver of all time" T.O.,Is very good but would NEVER EVER be on the SUPERBOWL CHAMPION Patriots.Don't you people get it yet? This is a TEAM game. It's not all about "ME" as certain athletes would have you think.I can't wait till todays media day to see what else guys like Freddie Mitchel spew out of their mouths. Please dump more fuel on the fire all you people who have not gotten it yet.It will make a victory all the sweeter. Default Pats Dynasty

Code:
And, as we know, when it's a single game, anything can (and often does) happen.

Anyone who has watched the Pats over the last few years understands that they will win this Super bowl. There is really no argument to support the Eagles who played a soft NFC. Maybe the Eagles fans missed the Pats versus the Colts and Steeler games. The Pats dominated the Steelers on their own field.

They only question I have is where will the Pats play the Super bowl in 2006?

What a great time in Boston sports history! Who needs the Celtics and the Bruins.

Freddie is Freddie, take whatever he says with a grain of salt. Like Donovan McNabb said, if someone needs the other team to make stupid comments to get more motivation for the game, then they shouldn't be playing in the game. The game is motivation enough.

Default Yes---But

I'm a Pats fan and think they will win this thing. However:

All the talk about them beating the Stealers, Colts etc etc..... Does the team with the name Dolphins mean anything? I am a believer that "any" professional team can beat any other Professional team at any given time. I hope that's not what happenes here that the lesser Eagles beat the better Pats. But it could happen!!

With that said:

GO PATS, Pats 34 Eagles 16 That way I'll win the pool as well.

Default Flashback...

'02 Bowl: Underdog Pats win on Vinatieri's last-second FG, 20-17
'04 Bowl: Heavily-favored Pats win on Vinatieri's FG with 4 seconds left, 32-29

Seems they should've bestowed one of those MVP awards on Adam!

Default All Very Valid Points.....

but, I am tired of hearing about the colts and the steelers.....the colts have never been able to beat the pats in new england....and the steelers have never won a championship at home.......the EAGLES have never been able to win a championship....now they have.....being red sox fans, as you all are and talking about curses.....the curse is now off the EAGLES and it is time to put the pats and their fans to rest.......in a big soft bed, with fluffy blankees and your binkies cause come sunday night you all will be crying like babies.......

I'm afraid you don't get away that easy. Your curse has only lasted for three years. We put up with 86. The Eagles are just now entering the second phase of "The Curse" where they follow the Bills to three more losing efforts at the big game if that are that lucky.

Default Wow!!!! someone who reminds me of myself.....

A true fan that defends his team to the very end.......and loves to talk trash, you are alright in my book Nero.

On another note, Welcome to the forum.

And on another note still, come sunday it will be welcome to the terror dome. The mad scientist (Jim Johnson) is looking at Brady, the heart and soul of the Pats, as the threat to stop. As you know, we have a very capable pass rush, and I believe during the regular season we were tied for the most sacks in the NFL ( I am not certain though) but we have to be leading that stat. in the post season. This, compounded by the fact that the Pats are playing a hungry, talented, young and strong team will be the demise of the so called "die - nasty" you are looking for. You guys seem to think that you dont have to recoginze the EAGLES as a threat, and that is step two in the Pats downfall. Underestimation. The EAGLES did not come this far, this year, to flop. They are a more mature team, with big post season experience, and a ton of underestimated talent. Put it all together and what does it spell?

E.A.G.L.E.S. EAGLES!!!!! Come on, you know you want to say it!! Say it. It is that simple, put your mind at ease, and root for the team, that deep down inside you know will win. Say it, say, "GO EAGLES!!" Now doesnt that feel better? Scream it at the top of your lungs!!!! Put on your green, silver and white #5 jersey and loose your voice during the game.....it will be well worth it.

Default Trash talk

Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be here. I've been sitting on the sidelines watching for years. Just decided it was time to get off the bench and onto the field.

As for the Pats, you are correct that I would defend them to the end. I had faith that didn't quite pay off in 85, although I had to admit it was a long shot even then. I knew we could win in 96 and I'm still convinced we could have had it not been for the distractions that The Tuna introduced before the game. I screamed at the TV all day long before XXXIV because I knew we would beat the Rams and nobody on the tube could see the light. This year I stood beside them, admittedly with some trepidation, as they overcame the "best offense" then the "best defense" in the league, in consecutive weeks. Now, however, it not so much at matter of standing by my team as it is common sense. I think that this will be a boring game. I have no doubt that the Pats will, uncharacteristically, be in complete control for the entire game. It won't even be close. You could double the spread and the Pats would still cover. Considering the vast difference in the level of competition between the NFC and AFC this year, this game will be like watching the varsity squad take on the freshman. I will think of you the rest of your fans as I watch the Pats dismantle your boys. I will feel your pain. I felt it for years, so I know it well. Now is our time, but maybe, if you keep the faith, you'll see a champion in your lifetime. Unfortunately for you it won't be this year, or even next. We have a ways to go first. Brady will own 5 rings before he's done. One more this Sunday and at least two more over the next four years to five years.

Good luck. Your gonna need it.

Default Underestimation!

I have been standing by watching but had to jump in. Glenn, you think the Pats underestimate the Eagles? If thats what you think you are sorely mistaken. The Pats never underestimate any opponent. You do not seem to understand that that is the key to Belichicks & the Pats success. It is also the down fall of all their opponents including the Raiders, the Rams, the Colts, the Steelers, the Panthers etc. The Pats have been underestimated at every turn & now the Eagles (T.O., Mitchell & company) are doing the same. Thats ok & its ok with the Pats, thats the way they like it & thats when they are most dangerous.

Have you noticed that there has never been any trash talking from the Pats since Belichick took the helm & there still isn't even with all their success. Last night on the Best Dam Sports Show, Givens & Branch (who are they?) were interviewed & they named the entire Eagles secondary because they KNOW their opponent & are prepared for them & respect them. The Pats are the most prepared team in the NFL.

Nobody can guarantee a win in the NFL these days. Any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday. I will guarantee one thing though. THE EAGLES WILL KNOW ALL THE PATS NAMES ON SUNDAY.

Tow, does the word meaningless game (Miami)mean anything? That game meant nothing to the standings or playoffs. It was also a wake-up call. When it's time to play for something meaningfull,I'll take the Pats anytime over anyone.I think your final score is a pretty good guess. SS

Default Poetry in motion.....

From Dawkins to Owens, Simon & McNabb....
Westbrook and Hugh Douglas, will make the Pats sad.....
Levins and G. Lewis and "Toe Biz" that's Akers....
Even Stinkson, (I mean Pinkston) is one of our shakers....
We Have JR Reed, he can make people miss....
but miss he will not, if his name is Mike Lewis....
And dont forget Adams, he's been playing real good.....
and look out for Trotter, when he starts chopping wood.....
Sheppard and Brown are getting their kicks.....
just thinking about Mitchell, on 4th and 26.....

From the Link, to Center City, the Liberty Bell to Penns Landing....
right here, right now, our team is outstanding......
From Fishtown to Kensington, Northeast to Northwest.....
we root for the team that we think is the best......

Since I was a boy, I loved this team......
along with many others, that have shared this dream....
We have watched and we've waited as years have gone by.....
only to sing the song again......

"FLY EAGLES FLY!"

Thumbs up You are correct......Citizen Caine!

There will be thousands of fans heading over to Philly to get their spots laid out for the Victory Parade!! How observant of you.....

"I will purchase the Red Sox World Series last out ball from Mienkewicz on ebay, and promptly throw it into the Delaware River during the EAGLES Victory Parade"
(EAGLES fan e-mail forwarded to me.)

It is countdown time now.....2 and 1/2 days untill our two teams meet on the gridiron to determine who will be crowned Superbowl Champions......I can hardly wait......GO EAGLES!!!

A special thanks to the WEBMASTER for allowing this fun.

Good luck to all, and a prayer for the players, that they may all get home safe to their families, after the game, with no injuries. Signing off until game time, (and I know alot of you are thankful for this) Glenn Steely

Thumbs up PATS - Football

I've gotta go with the PATS. They are our New England team. I'm not a football addict but do enjoy the bowl games and some of the show surrounding the game. It's the game that introduced us to the concept of Costume and Wardrobe Malfunction.

When I was Senior Broadcast Engineer for WHDH radio 850 we became the flagship station for the Patriots (early '80s). After network difficulties with the 1st game they asked me to be the Technical Director for the Patriots Radio Network (note the old logo from my Pats jacket). That was fun. And then there are other pleasant distractions involved with the game (note the more recent autographed picture).

Any Forum users plan to be on the little known and used Lake Winnipesaukee Chat room during the game? Winnie CHAT room (you may want to activate a pop-up blocker)

Good luck to the PATS and safe celebration to all.

What's everyone doing to celebrate after the Patriots win their third bowl?

Default Win or Loss

Win or Loss, let's hope this board is closed by then, or we may see a lot of "interesting" new posts!

Cool Hey Glennsteely......I know how you feel.

You must respect the rules here, if you want to play. But you may only talk about NH weather, NH water, and NH places to eat.

You may not put down anything NH.....unless someone else does it first, and then you must be careful about what you agree with.

I fully respect the rules.

No disagreements about trials, boat sizes or taxes. Unless you want to disagree.

I really do respect the rules.

And my husband just told me that "New England is leading" 14 to 7. So, hopefully, nobody, especially Don, will come down hard on me for this.

Glenn.........I feel yer pain.....
