The perfect day: sandbarring on a warm summer morning at West Alton followed by lunch at Pop's and a slow sunset cruise back to the North.

Few days better.

Did I see on Facebook that you will have clam chowder this year or is it just for opening day?

Thanks!

Pop's is the only place I don't blow my lid if they're out of something. Yesterday, Monday, they were out of chicken fingers and scallops, but my immediate reaction was "thank the lord I can still have shrimps and clams and haddock" (I get the seafood platter because I love life; also, I totally get why they run out by Monday).

As usual, it was perfect in every way—the employees were great, the prices were reasonable, there was tons of good food, and there's just something so special about the top deck picnic tables on a warm summer day.

I thought we might become a Dockside family after our first experience there, but they just don't have the consistency or old-timey feel.

Pop's is one restaurant in the area that I truly hope never changes.

I knew that Seth worked for you when you owned VK. Was Micki a former employee at Red Hill ?

Oh okay. I thought Barefoot’s post meant he was leaving the area until next May. I misinterpreted it.

Actually, I believe he winters in Florida (which means he is leaving the area, but will return in May).

We have gone to Pop's several times this summer and made sure to take the boat there for lunch today. We didn't want to miss the last chance this season. Great as usual!

Sorry....missed this post back in July
Yes....Micki has worked for me since she was 14 years old and managed the Red Hill Dari for many years. The most loyal and hardworking person you could ask for.Had lots of offers to buy the Dari when it was time for us to retire but Micki deserved to own it.
