I'm not a rueben fan but I am a big fan of the Bob House. Always had a great meal there.

Best reuben IMO
I love the Bob House but have never tried the reuben (I will the next time I am in). In my opinion, the best reuben around is at Krista's Restaurant in Cornish, Maine. It is homemade and twice cooked, tender as can be and they offer it several different ways. Give it a try sometime if you are heading to Maine on Rte 25. You will not be disappointed.

Got to the Bob House for the first time this season today. Came solo to read and have the fried seafood platter—gosh dang it was good!
I've not been to Canoe in a long while, since the new menu went a bit poofy/pricey. I'm a Bob House dude now. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Love Yogi-isms…this one is painfully ironic these days.

Agreed—walking in to a restaurant is essentially impossible and reservations must be made farrr in advance.
I thought I might give Canoe another go with my bros Tuesday since Bob House was closed, but they weren't even answering their phones. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

Think--I love Canoe--excellent martinis, grilled salmon, salads. But the focus is on excellent fare and reasonable portions, so I think you're going to be disappointed with the level of poof |

Think…
Based on your endorsement Wifey and I went to Bob House for lunch today (Thursday). I had the seafood platter and she had the baked haddock salad. It was all great! The seafood platter which has haddock, scallops and shrimp, was $26.99 which is a price that compares very favorably to the $29.99 1/2 pint side order of whole belly clams at The Clambake in Scarborough Maine. Wifey says she’s certainly going to visit the Bob House again. |

I normally don’t write restaurant reviews but our dinner at the Bob House last night was over the top. We were first greeted by the happiest hostess ever. (We did have reservations). Then our obviously experienced waitress tended to us perfectly. Drinks were great. The baked scallops and prime rib were superb. Then, another happy lady approached our table to ask if everything was good. I asked if she was the manager? No, she was the owner’s wife. A great enjoyable evening.

Why are they closed today?
We hadn’t been in a few weeks and so thought we’d stop by this evening. As we approached around 6pm there wasn’t a single car in the parking lot. The website certainly seems to indicate they’d be open. Does anyone know why they’re closed? I hope everything is okay.

I don't think the Bob House needs business right now—they do such a great job that both locals and visitors alike love them, and they *seem* to have a solid enough staff to consistently provide that experience.
Speaking for myself, the way they've treated me and my youth groups has inspired loyalty. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

They did the same thing last year. Seems odd to us that a popular place would shut down on arguably one of the busiest weekends of the year. I would think the employees could use the extra dough during a busy weekend.

I went for the fourth time this summer and all four times their vegetable was bland green beans. They use to have butternut squash most times which is great. Get innovative. As most places their prices are up but serving as the only vegetable bland beans is unacceptable

Butternut squash is a fall veggi. If they served that to me now I toss it in the trash lol.

Hit the Bob House tonight for the first time this summer—we've always called in too late for reservations and don't like waiting—and it was, as usual, awesome.
Prices have gone up a tad—similar to most restaurants—but the quality and service is among the best around the lake. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |
