Conway Scenic
I know Conway, NH is outside the Winnipesaukee region but I believe this is worth sharing as a reminder to all the dangers railroads can pose when trespassing. If you see tracks always expect a train, it's an absolute tragedy what happened yesterday, hopefully the lady survives. My understanding is the train that struck the lady was full of parents and little kids, as the train was for their Pumpkin Patch Express event. The accident is being investigated by the NTSB.

Not sure but its a good possibility that is the case, the engineer said the lady was looking right at the train. That is a nightmare turned reality for anyone at the throttle.

Think of how the poor engineer must feel and to think somebody might have done it on purpose. A couple of years ago, a young girl ran her car into a truck and was killed. She had been talking about suicide publicly. I felt sorry for the truck driver in that case too.

The poor Engineer and all the people and children that were on that train that had to be a part of what was supposed to be a happy day for all on there. Sad!!!

The more information that comes out the more it appears to have been an attempted suicide. The lady had tied her dog to a tree then stood track side and as the train got close, she stepped in front of it. It's an absolute tragedy and a nightmare for everyone involved.

Breaks my heart
Words cannot begin to convey the tragedy here, from the desperate person who has given up all hope....to the innocent people who had to experience the episode to the bereaved family left behind to cope with the loss. There is help out there, but not enough, apparently.

Suicide should be a private, unwitnessed affair, not a public spectacle.
Good grief.

Sadly, it happens with some frequency here in NJ where there are a lot of commuter lines into NYC. While we were in NH in July, someone I know did just that in front of a bunch of people including children. It was terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app
