Default Long Distance Service - Landline

Just for those who have a landline phone. Fairpoint.

What long distance company do you use?
Costs and any other information that one can share.

Not interested in VOIP or Internet Phone Service.
So if you have Ooma, Skype, Nettalk, Magicjack, Walmart, Cell Phone, etc. Not the question here now.

Fairpoint landline phone. What do you have for long distance service?

What's a landline? ....

In all seriousness, my parents had one when I was younger - I've never owned one. The cell phone is perfect for that.

It's the telephone you use to find your cell phone.

The only good thing about a landline is it's the number you give when you fill out things on line. That way you never get junk calls on your cell phone. All my junk calls go to voicemail on my land line because I never answer it.

In all seriousness, it's the line you have in the Lakes Region because your mobile network carrier does not have a dependable signal where your lake house is located...unless you jump in the boat and go out into the middle of your lake!

finally gave up my land line last September. I had the same number for 25 years and needed it before cell and after cell but had to do a lot of faxing . Now with cell phones, DocuSign, scanning etc I found I never used it and had to pay even a reduced charge in the winter. will save about 400-500 per year

Default I still have one

Check with Applewood Communications at https://csp.telrite.com or 866-890-4135. Very inexpensive and I've used them for years, although I usually use my cell phone. They will even give you an 800 number if you want.

Arrow

Using Fairpoint, and the long distance company is GTC Telecom. 'Usual monthly charge is $7.12. When I get my monthly autopay statement, I check that it's not more than that, and throw the bill away.

GTC Telecom: (800) 486-4030
