Default Barbers pole

Can anyone tell me the story behind the barbers pole near marker 17? I noticed that is listed on my chart also. Do they offer hair cuts at one of the lake front properties there?

Default Barber's Pole Marker

Speaking of that marker (near buoy 17) ... it is in bad repair and needs a new paint job. Whoever was responsible for placing it should also have some sort of plan for keeping it looking good. Right now it certainly devalues my property (I'll have to talk to the assessor about that ... maybe it's a good thing!).

I've too noticed that in the last couple of years the Barber's Pole has been in need of a new paint job, or a replacement for that matter. It wasn't too long ago that they replaced it was it? I saw an article in the Weirs Times with a picture showing a MP boat putting it in...but do they take care of it?

http:/ /www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=397&highlight=Barbers+Pole Here's the link to RG's post that says it was replaced in August 2001 by what looks like a private donation.

It seems over the last few years it has become less of a "Barber's Pole" and more of a "Stick" in the water....
