Now that it looks like a (weakened) Hanna will be visiting this weekend, and my sailing plans are pretty much going to be washed out, how many other's are thinking about the inevitable end of the 2008 season?
I was speaking to a co-worker this morning, and he is pulling his "lake" boat this weekend. I normally am in the water until mid October, but weather really determines when it gets hauled. Thoughts? |

It's your call. In the wake of Hanna we should see high pressure again (nice weather) but the following weekend we *could* be dealing with Ike. No guarantees on that. It could roll over Florida or it could make a right turn before Florida and do the coast. Hurricane track forecasts beyond 3 days out are generally unreliable.
How do you know you won't be missing out on a stellar weekend of boating on the 20th, or on the 27th? In the last 2 weeks we've had the best weather of the summer. Then there is the other factor that has us all talking (in another thread): There wasn't a lot of summer weather this year, and all through August we were getting weather more typical of September. Now the trees are noticeably changing color. Signs that winter wants to come early, if some feature like El Nino doesn't stand in its way. Like I said, it's your call. |

Just spent Thursday on the lake and it was probably my best day of the summer. Most boats we saw in the broads at one time was maybe 5-6.Nice calm conditions and temps in the mid 80's.Easy riding on the PWC down to Wolfboro,Alton Bay,over to Winter Harbor and back up to Gilford.A perfect 10 in my book.

I think I am leaning towards pulling the boat tomorrow. Takes 10 min to take out and just not worth trusting the hook and chain in 30 to 50 mile gusts. Just put it back in sunday or next friday. Ill get to fill up cheaper this week!!
