Default Going, Going, Gone?

Looking at the Weirscam this a.m., and the forecast for the next couple days, could it be that we'll have ice-out by the weekend??? Getting pretty close!

Thumbs up Ice eating fog today

What a weird weather day! Coming over the hill into Meredith, there's a fog upon the lake. I couldn't see ice, but it has to be out there somewhere. Center Harbor also is foggy, but you can see plenty of ice. It won't be long now.

Default ice trying to go?

the ice is out between Meredith Neck and Governorn's Island. It is trying to go out in many other places. I see that the water level has come up a foot or so and also notice that there is no water going over the dam in Lakeport. Comments?

Sadly I'll be in Florida this weekend, but the boat will be in the water and I'll be fishing in a week. Yippee!

A strong North wind came up mid-afternoon, and started breaking up the ice. There are large areas of open water everywhere across the ice remaining. My boathook drove through the ice floes with ease. Portions of the ice lying on their sides show 7-8" in former thickness. Tonight's temps are to be in the 30s.

The M/S Mt. Washington could manage this light ice with ease, on this day that I picked for ice-out. What's my prize again?

It sounds like we could have made it to Whortleberry this weekend, but due to power not yet being restored after recent fire we will have to postpone until next weekend. Hopefuilly NHEC will be able to make it out to the island and restore power. We are itching to get back to camp and open up! NHEC suggested we give them a call next week just to be on the safe side. Even if we couldn't stay the weekend and get things set up, I think it would be worth the trip just to see and smell the lake again. The weather seems to be cooperating, now if only New Hampshire Electric COOPERATIVE can do the same we will be happy!

Paugus Bay is clear to about Big Island. It was amazing to watch the ice's progress today. The wind blew all the remaining ice down to the south end. I suspect 2 days and it will be gone.
