Arrow The 39th Annual Lee’s Mills Steamboat Rally

About the Annual Lee’s Mills Steamboat Rally

From the Sunset Bob Gallery

Each September the town of Moultonborough sponsors the largest and longest meet in the world for steam launches. It lasts for about ten days.

On the first Sunday of the rally, a steamboat parade goes out into Moultonborough Bay.

From the Webmaster Gallery

On the second Sunday of the meet, the parade goes into Green's Basin.

Usually the rally showcases 55 to 60 operating steamboats with several steam models on display.

It truly is a very unique, interesting and educational event. I highly recommend it.

You can really tell that the owners are very proud of their vessels and seem to enjoy sharing their hobby with the spectators

Thanks RG for that informative post and for reminding everyone about my YouTube channel. I was surprised to hear at the ForumFest that some regular site visitors are not even aware of it.

We have reached the levels where YouTube has offered to "monetize" my videos by placing ads on them. I've decided not to do that and instead provide commercial free videos for your viewing enjoyment.

I shot a lot more videos this summer but haven't found the time to edit them. I'll be working on that in the next few months and should be adding more soon.

One important note if you are thinking about visiting the Steamboat Rally: Many steamboat owners are happy to give you a free ride. I was able to get on 2 different steamboats on Saturday last year and again during the parade on Sunday. It's a real treat to cruise around Lee's Mills in a wood fired steamboat and see all the boats in action. They all toot at each other and there is a lot of joking between the boats since everyone is going slow. If you are in the area drop by.

Yes- You'll have to plan on coming over to watch the steamboats. Unfortunately we have a party to go to Saturday night or we would all go to Buckey's. Thanks for letting me know.

The Steamboat Rally ended Yesterday. The parade went right by my house, but some other people were upset because the parade did not go down into the coves as it usually does. I have a friend ( Doug ) who owns a steamboat so I had a nice ride. He said people can come by and get rides all week and even for the parade. Many of the boats in the parade had only the driver in them. Doug said it is the largest rally in the world. They had close to 50 boats this year. He goes to rallies all over the northeast and Florida. Attached are a few pictures of my ride.

Default steamboat

For the first time in many years I went by boat to Lees Mills on Sat, what a wonderful day, and all them steamboats was great to see. I also seen the Dam up beyond the show area, did not know that was there and it was flowing pretty good. To all them there Steamboat Capt. Job well done.
I am wondering when someone is gonna take a pontoon boat and make a steamer out of that? The possiblities for propulsion would be great.

Default Lovely photos

GBG, Some lovely photos and you look very much at home in the steamboat. Do I see a steamboat in your future (rather than a pontoon boat)???
