Question To Put the Savings into Property Tax...

I've had State Farm auto insurance for over 40 years. While they're high in premiums, their payouts have stayed at the max (and once, even beyond max)!

Now I'm thinking that, to save a bundle, I should suspend my State Farm car insurance during the six months I'm residing in NH:

1) because it's not required
2) my vehicle won't bring much if totalled, and
3) I drive very few miles when around here.

Anyone having experience with this idea?

I assume you intend to keep liability coverage? exposing your net worth to a lawsuit would not be prudent...

but if you mean coverage on the vehicles themselves - i indeed dropped coverage on all of mine (3) for the reasons you mention.

Question ..... zero deductible comprehensive coverage; glass windshield replace

Car insurance comprehensive coverage; $500 deductible verses zero deductible ..... what's the difference in price?

Needing to replace the front windshield due to a crack caused by "vibrations", a stress crack is something that happens when you drive a rough N.H. road on a regular basis like Route 175 in Holderness and Ashland before it got repaved with new smooth asphalt.

So, what's difference in price between a $500-deductible, a $250-deductible, and a zero deductible for comprehensive coverage for a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?

You drive back and forth right? You are not talking about a parked vehicle in one state while you are in another? If your vehicle isn't worth much you might want to drop the comprehensive. But you should keep the liability in case you hurt somebody else. Liability isn't cheap though. But call them and ask for a price if you drop the comprehensive.

Actually, if you leave a car here in NH and besides liability coverage you also have at least Comprehensive Coverage (also known as OTC - Other than collision), when you leave, contact your agent and have them suspend all auto coverage on that vehicle except OTC. Your vehicle will then have just coverage for the Comprehensive Coverage (OTC). When you get ready to return to NH, contact your agent and have them reinstate those deleted coverages. You will save a lot of money.
