Just curious if anyone has ventured out to Rattlesnake yet? If so how are the conditions getting there?

The closest I got was the rattlesnake landing this weekend. There was a bob house out between diamond and rattlesnake so, it is either safe that far or a news report in the making.
Here is the pic I took before I left, I had to leave or I would have tried to get there. Flyfisha, What side are you on? |

I went out on Sunday with a four wheeler. I met a few snowmobiles at the landing that had just been out to the thumb. They confirmed that the ice was solid all the way over. I drilled a bunch of holes in front of my place and there was 8-10" of solid ice everywhere I drilled. Most holes never hit water. (I use a 1/2" bit on a battery drill with an electricians bit. If I hit over 6" without water I stop drilling to save the battery) my place faces south on the north side of the thumb. There are pretty large pressure pileups along the shoreline making machine access directly onto the island tough. It was great to get out there though!!
After this storm the trek will be totally different I'm sure. Stay Safe!! |

Does anyone have any more info on the ice conditions out the rattlesnake (from the launch) and/or on the broads side? A group of us were planning to make a trip out the camp this weekend. Judging from Broken Glass's post last week and the recent temperatures I would think the ice has improved, but would obviously like to hear other's feedback.
Thanks in advance! |

I wish I could help you but I have been in the Keys for a week and there is no ice at all down here. I can't wait to return this weekend and get back out to the island. Looking forward to some fresh reports on the conditions. I imagine the snow has changed the picture a bit since I was out there.
