Exterminator recommendation-Meredith
Today in our cottage in Meredith we noticed large, flying ants on the inside of the living room screens and a couple crawling near one of the points in the cathedral ceiling. I'm worried these could becarpenter ants. Can anyone please recommend an extermnator service. I realize it will be difficult to reach anyone due to the holiday but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, My name is Scott Compton of "Scott Compton Builder". I would strongly urge you to call Lakes Region Pest Control Co and speak with Justin. He is very knowledgable in insect infiltration. I use him on all my remodeling jobs and new construction. His number is 603-219-4074 or 1-800-675-8472.

Value Pest Control, Alton
Try Dean DeRoche owner of Value Pest Control in Alton. 875-3558. He does pest control all around the lake and has been doing our property for the last 10 years. Very honest, won't tell you that you necessarily need treatment every year; we're on a one every two year treatment program. We had an extreme carpenter ant infestation on our screened in porch and he took the time to show us what was water damage and what was carpenter ant damage. He also told us what wood was truly rotted and needed to be replaced and what was still structurally sound. He saved us some $$. Good luck and let us know how you made out.

This definitely sounds like carpenter ants. The first thing you need to do is find the water damaged/rotting wood because until that is replaced you will not solve the ant problem (well, maybe temporarily). I'm dealing with the same thing right now.

Flying ants
Just like the OP, today we noticed winged ants all around window sills of our camp. Does anyone know of an exterminator that will come out to Bear Island.
I thought I remembered reading that exterminators will not bring chemicals out on the water, is this true? |

just had the exterminator out on Pine Island

I just had Steve Piggot from Presidential Pest Control in Moultonborough out on Pine Island last Friday. Somewhat related to another thread about building a house on the island and using SIPs... I can attest to the fact that carpenter ants love them! Picked Steve and the equipment up at Y-Landing and so far the results are stunning with hundreds of large winged carcasses dropping out of the ceiling… ugh! Steve’s number is: (603) 723-7250 Happy ant hunting -PIG |
