Lightning last night.
What an amazing evening. Snapped this photo from the Weirs last night.

I saw the bright lightning, but I think I slept through most of it. Was there much wind and rain?

That was one of the more intense lighting storms I have ever witnessed. It was non-stop for about 15 minutes.

It was a crazy light show, from Dover to the Weirs last night it was non stop. At points it was so bright you'd think it was daytime..

About what time was the picture taken? It looks like it is dark out, yet the lightning just happened to light up the sky

Awesome
Awesome shot. We went and watched it come over the Ossipees last night. Constant flashing and the bolts were long and incredible. Probably the best show I have seen on the lake

Today's Laconia Citizen reported two boats, a 22 foot sailboat and a 28 foot runabout, were hit by lightening about 2:15 am Thursday, burned and sank at Quayside Yacht Club off Long Island Road.

Bad Lightning
I work in Meredith. In my building, all three offices in my building got whacked. In my office, we lost the router, network server, all Internet, access to all network capabilities. I have 10 people standing around for 2 days able to do little, if any work. The server will need to be replaced at a cost of thousands. I know we have insurance. but it is a complete pain in the neck. Pretty to watch, but wow, it can really cause some serious damage.

On 7-28-13 My brother-in-law was struck by lightning in Wolfeboro at Sunset Point on Lake Wentworth. Anyone on this site on the Wolfeboro Fire Department? I haven't talked to him, but my sister said he was doing OK.
