Once it starts, given this weather, it's pretty amazing how quickly it happens.

While I'm still not ready to venture out onto the ice just yet, the ice along the shoreline and ~30yrds out is now 4-5" thick. This in areas where there was open water at this time yesterday.

My cameras show that mark island iced in about 100 feet out from shore facing bear overnight for the first time of the season. It has been open water until today.

Default No wind.... Maybe a nice surprise at daylight

The weather stations around the lake are reporting almost no wind. This could be it.... In the morning go to www.rattlesnakecam.com/icein.htm to see!

Default zoom zoom zoom... pine island is iced in!

yesterday it was from the shore to the light buoy, today it looks like frozen all the way over to Moultonborough Neck...

I don't think we'll be walking out this weekend, but it shoud be soon

and overnight Bear Island South Cove froze in all the way over to Mark Is.
